Job Description: 

An excellent opportunity for a Test Engineer to join a well-established, exciting and growing Lithium-ion space business. The company designs, manufacturers and qualifies batteries for international space missions on satellites, launchers, and interplanetary vehicles.  The company’s customer’s include both national and international space agencies like NASA and European Space Agency as well as working across the commercial market supporting missions that include Earth observation, internet of things satellite constellations and global positioning systems.  The position is based in the Culham Science Centre near Abingdon in Oxfordshire and is a job that can truly impact people across the globe.

Summary

Experienced Bid manager to lead, develop, manage, and evaluate the production of bespoke and customised bids and proposals for EnerSys Advance Systems (EAS) division. The work will have a significant segment focus as well as supporting the Defence and Aviation businesses. The role will define and manage the bid process with a view to rapid customer responses and maximising the return on bid efforts. The role will also be responsible for defining the future market and technical needs of the organisation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Required to define, build, and maintain a good base knowledge of EAS services, expertise and USP’s to write quality proposal responses
Working with and managing key stakeholders to develop sound commercial awareness and use this to identify new frameworks and tender opportunities and support the writing of proposals
Creating and managing a central tender response process and repository
Understanding and generating proposals in response to customer requests and the fundamental contents within these proposals including technical, schedule and pricing information
Managing complex small, medium, and large-scale bids typically up to $3 million, managing multiple bids simultaneously
Planning and monitoring bid progress against the scheduled plan, addressing issues as they arise
Reporting on proposals, framework and tender success and provide statistics to key stakeholders
Obtaining and disseminating customer feedback on bids won and lost
Accountable for the use of customer feedback and responses for the improvements of quality and timeliness of bid responses to customers
Scoping, budgeting delivery of all bid activities
Ensuring that bids follow governance gates and are signed off at the appropriate levels and a focus on stakeholder engagement and management
Maintaining department and business documentation and processes for all elements of the bid and handover processes
Managing bid and proposal risks
Supporting and attending customer negotiation meetings and accurately recoding contractual elements
Building and maintaining client relationships on multi-functional levels
Contributing to the business development market analysis, reporting and strategies
Defining future technical needs of the EAS division technology Roadmap ensuring a coherent strategy
Demonstrating a natural flair for engaging with programmatic and technical functions in customer organisations
Responsible for bid phase gate management and delivery of timely reviews and proposals
The role has line manager responsibilities

Qualifications

Degree level education in a technical field or equivalent through experience

Knowledge and use of Miller Heiman, Shipley, or equivalent best practice desirable

UK driving licence preferred

Knowledge and Experience

A firm understanding of the bid and tender process lifecycle

Experience in managing the bid and tender process

Previous experience within aerospace or hi-tech environment preferred

Commercial and contractual acumen essential

First class analytical skills and strong commercial awareness

Previous experience in line management preferred
