This position will be focusing primarily on our Reserve Power applications, which include telecommunications, IT, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), utilities and switchgear, security, emergency lighting and general electronics. Some of the reserve power brands include PowerSafe,DataSafe, and Genesis. Our extensive product range serves a variety of reserve power applications and consistently delivers the most effective, powerful and reliable batteries available.


Job Purpose

Primarily responsible for testing software applications with limited supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and implement automated test cases according to established software  development processes
  • Document all software modules according to established standards; work with end users, Business Analysts and QA Analysts to clarify expected behavior of software features
  • Create test plan strategies and test cycle schedules which include both test engineer requirements and equipment resources
  • Write, implement, and report status for system test cases/procedures for testing to meet with established Life Cycle guidelines
  • Develop test cases that will ensure expected system behavior is verified based on system requirements
  • Perform root cause analysis of software bugs
  • Formally enter software bugs into bug tracking system with detailed information regarding the bug
  • Review product documentation for technical accuracy, readability and usability
  • Select, architect, implement, and maintain the tools and processes needed to automate, where feasible, test-driven development in a software systems environment
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation and be prepared to train other test and engineering resources in test-driven development as needed
  • Document test cases and procedures to be used in conjunction with automated test applications
  • Continuously research to keep up with new technologies and best practices
  • Contribute to continuous improvements of existing systems
  • Participate in the development of the department's strategic goals and direction



  • Two to four years of prior work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent military training in the field; BSCS, BSCE, BSEE
  • Software development/test experience in a team environment
  • Experience with Windows OS, Solaris, UNIX, Java, Oracle, and Web Applications
  • Excellent testing, debugging and analysis skills
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Thorough, detail-oriented and willing to take ownership of projects and resolution of problems
  • Ability to communicate easily and clearly with the engineering group to craft testing procedures/methodologies
  • Excellent writing, verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Self-directed and willing to respond to direct tasking

Desirable Qualifcations

  • Experience with SNMP, IP, DNS, TCP and Firewalls
  • Broadband cable systems engineering experience or Power Supply experience
  • Experience with RF communications
  • Experience in JavaScript
  • Experience with Java

General Job Requirements

  • This position will work in an office setting, expect minimal physical demands.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds/11.5 kilos on occasions.
