This position will report to our EnerSys Energy Systems business, which serves the telecom, cable broadband, industrial, renewable, and data center markets. Job Purpose

Provide technical and application support for EnerSys products and services, in the assigned area against profitable margins and in line with the business plan, in order to contribute to the realization of service- related sales and service targets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans and coordinates activities concerned with installing equipment, investigating and resolving customer reports of technical problems with equipment, and eliminating future operational or service difficulties by performing the following duties
  • Follows all company policies and procedures as listed, but not limited to: warranty, safety, environmental, OSHA, DOT Hazmat, and ISO9000
  • Travels to customer sites to evaluate, diagnose, and repair customer’s equipment
  • Replaces defective parts, reassembles battery, and fuses lead parts with the gas torch
  • Washes clean, and neutralizes customer’s batteries at customer ‘s location
  • Diagnoses and repairs battery charging equipment
  • Specifies coordinates installation of, installs, provides preventive maintenance, and repairs battery handling equipment
  • Operates material handling equipment per OSHA requirements
  • Installs new or modified equipment at customer's facility to ensure full functionality according to specifications
  • Performs inspections and analyzes findings to determine the source of the problem, and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective action
  • Coordinates problem resolution with technical support, customer service, sales, and other personnel to expedite repairs
  • Provides on-site technical assistance to help troubleshoot and repair equipment. Functions as a technical resource to the service tech, service tech II, PSR’s and Sales personnel
  • Maintains records of performance reports
  • Provides a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer
  • Identifies areas/customers to target for increased service business. Works with Service Manager/Supervisor to develop and execute plans to accomplish this goal
  • Develops and conducts training on the safe operations of the equipment and demonstrates skills to trainees, including both team members and customers
  • Maintains a safe, orderly, and clean working environment; Assists Service Manager/Supervisor in the proper operation of the Service Center, as needed
  • Provides oversight and training for new/junior technicians, as directed by the Service Manager/Supervisor
  • Evaluate the on-site performance of technicians as requested by management
  • Must have hazmat endorsement or the ability to obtain one
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Able to read and speak with comprehension and write documents (such as customer correspondences, memos, and reports) in English
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Basic use and understanding of Internet software, E-mail, Microsoft Office
  • Ability to operate a cell phone

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years industry related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and industry experience; and at least five years field service experience

General Job Requirements

  • Must be able and willing to do overnight travel
  • Must be able and willing to operate a forklift.
  • This position requires you to drive a company vehicle. Therefore, you must be able to pass the company’s driving requirements. Certain vehicles may also require a specific drivers license and have additional driving requirements.
  • Must be able to differentiate colors.
  • Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilos on a daily continuous basis. Anything heavier will be done with the assistance of a mechanical device or with the assistance of another employee.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime.
  • Must be able and willing to work varying schedules which may include nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Risk of electrical shock.
  • This position is exposed to harmful materials such as lead/fiberglass products. Periodic blood tests are required to measure the level of lead. Precautions are taken by the company/employee to reduce the risk of exposure and help ensure everyones safety.
  • This position requires working in a plant/warehouse environment. Therefore, expect varying working conditions.
