This position will be focusing primarily on our Reserve Power applications, which include telecommunications, IT, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), utilities and switchgear, security, emergency lighting and general electronics. Some of the reserve power brands include PowerSafe,DataSafe, and Genesis. Our extensive product range serves a variety of reserve power applications and consistently delivers the most effective, powerful and reliable batteries available.

 

Job Purpose

The Vice President Finance is the primary financial leader supporting the global line of business  in achieving its overall business strategy. A primary role is to maintain accurate accounting in according with GAAP and provide meaningful financial information to management, to facilitate the decision-making process, to interpret and communicate the financial consequences of actions taken and planned, to focus management on the key financial measures targeted for EnerSys and the Americas, and to maintain an adequate system of internal control within the Finance organization and supporting SEC requirements. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities; Other Duties May be Assigned
  1. Coordinates and develops the business unit’s annual 5-year plan, annual financial budget, and monthly forecasts.
  2. Pro-actively prepares meaningful analyses on pricing, customer profitability, product profitability, sales mix, market share analyses, competitive analyze, cost, and special projects as required for the line of business (LOB).
  3. Reports and communicates financial performance on an actual, historical, and forecasted basis.  Focusing presentations on key financial measures, e.g., margin %, fav/(unfav) spending to budget and as % of sales, inventory levels, receivables, turnover, return on investment, headcount, etc.
  4. Manages and performs monthly closing process in accordance with GAAP and SOX related requirements while meeting with strict adherence to the internal corporate financial calendar – includes review of J/E’s, reconciliations, etc.
  5. Maintains and fosters business partnerships with commercial/function ESG leadership through management reporting and insights aligned with ESG business objectives.
  6. Supports ESG acquisition activities in alignment with the EnerSys Finance team.
  7. Coordinates between Regional Finance teams for info/reporting consistency and managerial alignment.
  8. Maintains Industry knowledge of ESG segments in order to provide financial benchmarking for ESG businesses.
  9. Ensures all SEC requirements and deadlines are adequately met, including footnote preparation and review, impairment analyses, financial statement certifications, and managing the external audit requirements.
  10. Interfaces with subsidiary and location controllers around the globe to understand and anticipate ESG finance performance and to identify areas of profit improvement; to improve the overall performance of the finance team through effective communication; to focus financial performance objectives for the LOB and provide consistency and compliance in evaluating performance.
  11. Maintains an adequate system of internal controls within the ESG and to monitor specific accounts (e.g. – commissions, warranty costs, etc.).
  12. Acts as main point of contact for all financial matters and questions for the LOB, including topics such as transfer pricing, legal entity structure, litigation, tax matters, warranty claims, system implementations, scenario modeling, leases, plant closures, etc.
  13. Manages special projects as needed.
  14. Exercises discretion and independent judgment when dealing with critical matters within the Americas organization.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  1. Degree in Accounting or Business
  2. CPA and MBA preferred.
  3. Minimum of 10 to 15 years’ progressive experience in similar divisional CFO/controller role at a publicly traded company.
  4. Previous experience integrating financial systems and personnel from business combinations.
  5. Global/Multinational business experience and cultural awareness necessary.
  6. Significant experience with manufacturing-based businesses having a substantial sales and service component.
  7. SAP Systems Experience a definite asset
  8. Professional confidence and demeanor to be able to provide meaningful insight in strategic executive discussions and productively challenge management in development of key initiatives and priorities.

 

Other Skills:

  1. Excellent financial analysis and reporting skills.
  2. In-depth knowledge of GAAP, SEC, FAR, CAS and other accounting/reporting requirements.
  3. Computer Skills – Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs:  Access, Word and Excel and ERP platforms.
  4. Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) in a professional manner when dealing with executives, associates, and outside organizations.

 

TRAVEL REQUIRED:        Occasional, as necessary.
