Job Purpose

Establish, coordinate, and provide leadership for improvement projects and EOS* (EnerSys Operational System) implementation. These projects should be integrated with the region / departments (Sales, HR, IT, Finance, Legal, Engineering, Operations) Lean deployment efforts and meet the guidelines, criteria and metrics established by the business.

*EOS is the EnerSys in-house Lean deployment program launched in 2017, inspired by Toyota Production System and Danaher Business System.

Mission

  • Lead regional improvement projects and effectively coordinate these projects with the regional management teams. 
  • Project leadership includes identifying opportunities, defining and financially justifying projects, launching project teams, using good project management to perform team activities, leading teams to execute projects with the problem-solving methodology, tracking project status and results, removing and elevating project barriers, and developing team members. 
  • It is also critical to identify integration issues with other projects/processes and coordinate the improvements with the appropriate project/process owners to accomplish the project goals.
  • Deploy regionally the EnerSys Operational System (EOS), train and coach department managers and teams to the system.
  • Ensure 2-way open communication throughout the organization based on results.
  • Scope projects in support of the system and productivity.
  • Lead RIE’s to deliver target improvement (Rapid Improvement Event = Kaizen Event)
  • Provide global EOS and regional department managers with the results and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ensure projects are integrated with other business activities, improvement projects, and business strategy.
  • Keep global EOS and regional department managers informed of program status and ensure coordination of activities between other teams.  Also, this includes capturing project lessons learned that can be re-used for other projects.

Toolbox

  • Waste Elimination, 5S, MDI (Managing for Daily Improvement) and RCCM (Root Cause & Counter Measure) are the 4 foundations of any EOS implementation.
  • Strategy Deployment (X-Matrix) and VSA (Value Stream Analysis) are used to plan yearly EOS activities, RIE and A3 are the preferred execution options.
  • CCF (Creating Continuous Flow) using takt time, Heijunka, SIOP, …, is one of the EOS transformation paths.
  • Another one is MMF (Making Material Flow), with PFEP, milk run, crossdocking and some more.
  • Finally, MIF (Making Information Flow) including master data, ERP, EDI, Sales Force… is the third path to EOS.
  • EOS4.0 introducing paper to glass strategy, AR (Augmented Reality) and AI is the next must do.

  • Ability to lead and direct an improvement team.  Must be a results-oriented “change agent" who is an effective business systems thinker.
  • Effectively communicate with all levels to maintain relationships and cooperation in pursuing the Business goals.  Must be able to influence, negotiate, and resolve conflicts to reach consensus around common goals.
  • Understand statistical analysis tools/methodology, project management, SAP, quality and basic financial principles and apply them to analyze the planned activities.
