Job Purpose

This position will be focusing primarily on our EnerSys Advanced Systems (EAS) Aviation line of business, which will include promoting and selling Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) and Ni-Cd batteries to military and commercial customers and developing future market opportunities with new emerging battery chemistries.  A position and job that can impact the transportation of people across the globe today and in the future.

An enthusiastic and trustworthy Aviation sales manager who is comfortable working in a fluid sales leadership environment.  Responsible for the daily management of the Aviation business ensuring the correct pricing and margin for all products.  The role requires experience in an international environment with sufficient gravitas to influence customers with varying levels of seniority.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Ni-Cd and Lead acid Aviation battery sales (Military and Commercial Aviation) in the EMEA & APAC region.
  • Responsible for adherence to the EAS Aerospace Commercial Gating and Approval process including the initiation, management, and commercial governance of the relevant national export control compliance.
  • Responsible for identifying new sales leads, opportunities, and conversion into orders.
  • Responsible for business development and growth within the narrow body commercial market
  • Responsible for management of key accounts.
  • Responsible for the profitability of the EAS ROW Aviation with specific focus on Gross Margin and Operating Earnings.
  • Responsible for the reporting of the EAS ROW Aviation segment KPIs.
  • Work closely with EAS Product Managers and Technical Support to deliver technical sales solutions.
  • Support, develop and engage new customers with the aim to convert into long term sustainable key accounts.
  • Work collaboratively with EAS & STG colleagues, cross Lines of Business (LOB) to further enhance Aviation customer value in the applicable region.
  • Foster positive relations with existing and new customers with specific focus on Business Development for Li-Ion capabilities in the commercial aviation sector (UAV/UAM) to vertically integrate with the EnerSys Li-Ion giga factory.
  • Attendance to airshows, exhibitions, sales meetings, seminars to support and promote and EnerSys.
  • Ensure all activity complies with the relevant rules, regulations and governance as required by EnerSys.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified with experience in the aviation environment.
  • Business qualification preferred.
  • Strong business English essential with fluency in second language desired.
  • Knowledge of battery applications and chemistry preferred.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in the commercial aviation regulatory environment with understanding of DOA & POA requirements.
  • Experience of working in different geographical regions with strong cultural awareness of those regions.
  • Strong influencing skills with a technical ability to operate in a complex sales environment utilizing concepts such as Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
  • A natural influencer who is comfortable ‘on the move’ while dealing with customers.
  • Sales experience in the Aviation market segment

Skills and Competencies

  • Understanding of Commercial Aviation Regulatory environment.
  • The preparation of quotations and detailed tender/RFQ responses.
  • Management of the completion of technical product questionnaires.
  • Understanding commercial contract terms.
  • Price management.
  • Liaison with the Shared Service Centre (SSC) to deliver outstanding customer support.
  • Provide commercial & after-sales support as and when required.
