Role Overview

The Operations Supervisor will oversee all operational functions including procurement, logistics, production, service, warehousing, and distribution for both EnerSys New Zealand facilities. Working closely with Sales, Finance, Supply Chain and Customer Care to ensure company financial targets and goals are met by producing goods and services that exceed benchmarks for quality assurance standards, are on budget and delivered within required timeframes.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage all NZ Operations including assembly, warehousing and distribution from Auckland and Christchurch
  • Prioritise and manage labour to achieve schedule requirements and business KPI’s
  • Ensure all Plant and equipment within your control has been assessed for Risk and appropriate controls are in place to eliminate Safety issues
  • Achieves Production KPI’s by effectively communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
  • Biosecurity requirements are managed accurately and on time through the Ministry for Primary Industries 
  • Monitor and manage Motive Power and Energy Systems monthly Pulse figures on a weekly basis 
  • Management of all workflow documentation i.e. SOP’s, Work orders, drawings and daily work schedules 
  • Operating the plant and equipment where required to fill labour shortages and ensure product supply continuity 
  • Ensure that all operators are inducted for the tasks they are undertaking 
  • Ensure Class 8 DG management complies with recommended handling, storage and usage guidelines as per ANZ Standards and Manufacturers recommendations
  • Ensure that all Preventative Maintenance is completed and loaded into the annual schedule
  • Conduct personnel performance appraisals in accordance with company guidelines
  • Troubleshoot issues and put in place corrective actions for:

o    Machines & equipment

o    Product finish quality & rework

o    Systems and processes 

  • Verify compliance and functionality of finished products to work order instructions to manufacture drawings and specifications.
  • Maintain professional finished product quality compliant with any applicable ANZ Standards
  • Work with the business to set achievable goals that always look to include stretch targets
  • Other duties as required to ensure operational requirements are met

Ideal Candidate

  

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business or Management desirable
  • Post graduate Supervisory / People management training
  • Business management / finance training
  • 5+ years supervisory experience
  • Biosecurity Transitional Facility Officer Certification
  • MPI Approved Person Training and Certification
  • Forklift and High reach license
  • First Responder training
  • Experience working in a complex manufacturing environment well regarded
  • Broad knowledge of Production Planning processes
  • Ability to track expenses and compile basic budgets
  • Formal LEAN / Continuous Improvement qualifications
  • Demonstrable experience in deploying LEAN principles to operations
  • Demonstrable experience deploying systems and processes to increase efficiency.
  • Experience with ERP and Data Analytics Systems
  • Dangerous Goods and Handling training
  • Health and Safety Representative Certification
  • Well-presented and able to articulate ideas clearly
  • Able to work unsupervised with integrity and trust
  • Be flexible to respond to the needs of the business including overtime
  • Able to effectively communicate professionally with a variety of behavioural and personality types
  • Good inter-personal skills
