This position will be focusing primarily on our Reserve Power applications, which include telecommunications, IT, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), utilities and switchgear, security, emergency lighting and general electronics. Some of the reserve power brands include PowerSafe,DataSafe, and Genesis. Our extensive product range serves a variety of reserve power applications and consistently delivers the most effective, powerful and reliable batteries available.

 

Job Purpose

Support customers and the sales staff with product and applications technical information

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Correspond with customers and the sales organization through verbal and written communication in response to customer requests for product use information including: specifications, capabilities, compatibility, interface and general technology
  • Interface with Engineering, Customer Service, Tech Pubs and Sales and Marketing to facilitate the flow of appropriate technical information for Headend Power Systems product line
  • Participate in the review of technical requests for proposals and develop responses
  • Evaluate customer and sales requests for special products, new product capabilities and weigh against our current approved third-party supplier offerings
  • Manage third-party supplier agreements, price sheets, and SAP part numbering system
  • Propose new third-party supplier relationships for new product sourcing to support Headend Power Systems group
  • Troubleshoot customers' technical problems, complaints, questions to a resolution, including interaction with customer service, sustaining engineering, product management, and sales, but maintains the primary responsibility for resolution
  • Coordinate third-party suppliers for participation in sales/representative product training
  • Expected travel (25-50%)

Qualifications

Required

  • 2-year degree in a related field; AA/AAS in electronics/technician certificate from an accredited technical institution
  • 4-6 years experience of strong customer interaction, AC UPS and/or DC power systems support experience and a working knowledge of electrical distribution systems
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to set own priorities
  • Flexibility to respond to a varying workload
  • Professional and ethical in dealing with customers and vendors
  • Ability to obtain a passport and travel independently
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office applications

 

Preferred

  • BSEE
  • 2-year electronics degree
  • Strong DC power experience
  • A second language is helpful, Spanish preferred

General Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds/11.5 kilos on occasions.
  • Risk of electrical shock.
  • This position requires you to drive a company vehicle. Therefore, you must be able to pass the company’s driving requirements. Certain vehicles may also require a specific drivers license and have additional driving requirements.
  • Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
