Job Purpose

The EHS Specialist – Site Lead provides hands-on EHS leadership across Canadian locations, with primary onsite support for Bolton. This role is the main onsite point of contact for Bolton employees, supporting safety, operations, workplace concerns, and overall employee experience. The position partners closely with Operations, HR, Facilities, and site leadership to maintain compliance, drive safety culture, and support engagement initiatives, including GPTW onsite events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

EHS Leadership & Compliance

• Lead site EHS programs ensuring compliance with provincial OHS regulations.

• Conduct hazard assessments, inspections, audits, and incident investigations.

• Manage corrective actions, root-cause analysis, and near-miss reporting.

• Oversee WHMIS/GHS, emergency preparedness, and safety training programs.

• Support workers’ compensation claims, modified work, and RTW programs.

• Coordinate medical monitoring (e.g., blood lead testing) and provide counseling as needed.

Onsite Operations & Safety Support

• Serve as the primary onsite point of contact for all Bolton employee inquiries regarding safety, operations, workplace matters, and general support.

• Partner with Operations, Facilities, Security, IT, and HR to support daily onsite operations.

• Maintain strong floor presence to monitor safety culture, employee concerns, and engagement.

• Support JHSC/Health & Safety Representative requirements and ISO documentation.

Employee Engagement & Culture

• Lead onsite employee engagement and recognition activities.

• Serve as the onsite lead for Bolton Great Place to Work (GPTW) events and activities.

• Promote company values and foster a positive workplace culture.

• Act as a connector between employees, leaders, and HR, ensuring employee voices are heard.

Training, Metrics & Continuous Improvement

• Develop and maintain the annual EHS training plan and training matrices.

• Track and report EHS KPIs (TRIR, LTIR, DART, near misses, training compliance).

• Submit monthly safety statistics for Canada and support audits and LEAN/Kaizen initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in EHS, Safety, Operations, HR, or a related role within a Canadian regulatory environment.

• Knowledge of provincial OHS legislation, WHMIS/GHS, and workers’ compensation systems.

• Experience in safety investigations, hazard assessments, and RTW/modified work programs.

• Strong communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills with employee-facing experience.

• Ability to work onsite at Bolton with occasional travel to other Canadian sites.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional EHS certifications such as CRSP, CHSC, or CSP.

• Experience in multi-shift or industrial operational environments.

• Experience supporting safety committees (JHSC) or ISO documentation.

• Experience leading employee engagement or GPTW initiatives.

• Familiarity with LEAN/Kaizen or continuous improvement methodologies
