Compensation Range: 92,600-121,000 

Compensation may vary based on applicant's work experience, education level, skill set, and/or location.  

Job Purpose

Alpha Technologies Ltd., an EnerSys company, has an opportunity for a cost accounting manager to join our finance team in our Burnaby, BC, Canada office. Reporting to the financial controller, Energy Systems Americas, Canadaand working closely with the operations team, the cost accounting manager will act as the key go-to person on behalfof the finance team. Performing high quality analysis over sales, COGS, and gross margin, and communicating and working with the operations team, this position will play an important role in improving processes and providing information for business decisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be a business partner to operations.
  • Lead the cost accounting team.
  • Prepare manufacturing annual budget and monthly forecasts.
  • Consolidate entity-level P&L annual budget and monthly forecasts.
  • Ownership of forecasting accuracy.
  • Prepare and present to finance and operations management weekly and monthly results and reports,comparing and analyzing actual results with budget and forecasts.
  • Recommending actions to the management team.
  • Ownership of standard cost and the annual standard cost roll.
  • Review inventory balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis to ensure accuracy and compliancewith GAAP.
  • Oversight and ownership of the inventory reserve provision.
  • Responsible for compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) for inventory and COGS.
  • Lead the annual physical inventory.
  • Liaise with external auditors in annual audit in the areas of sales, inventory, and costing.
  • Responsible for system-related changes required on a periodic basis.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive work experience
  • Manufacturing cost accounting experience
  • Excellent communications, both orally and in writing
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, US GAAP is an asset
  • Material requirements planning (MRP) system experience
  • Experience managing a team

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Accounting designation
  • Electronics assembly or similar industry experience
  • Enterprise-wide resource planning (ERP) system experience
  • Financial planning & analysis (FP&A) experience
  • Experience in publicly traded company
  • Exposure to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)
