This position will report to our EnerSys Energy Systems business, which serves the telecom, cable broadband, industrial, renewable, and data center markets. Compensation Range: $72,300-$90,000

Job Purpose
Alpha Technologies Ltd., an EnerSys company, has an opportunity for an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) & Facilities Manager to join our group in our Burnaby location.
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS), and Facilities Manager is responsible for implementing EHS management systems, maintaining facilities, and ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and international standards, such as ISO 14001 and ISO 9001. This role emphasizes safety leadership, sustainability, and operational efficiency within a manufacturing and industrial technology environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant workplace for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Promote a proactive and engaged safety culture through leadership, training, and effective communication.
- Lead and support Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) and EOS-aligned EHS programs to foster continuous improvement in workplace safety.
- Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and federal occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Serve as the primary liaison for regulatory audits, including WorkSafe BC, Environment Canada, and certification bodies, addressing non-conformities promptly.
- Maintain and report all required documentation and records to regulatory agencies.
- Co-chair the JOSH and YOSHI committees and oversee culture-building initiatives.
- Establish and manage emergency response plans, including first aid programs, evacuation procedures, and business continuity management protocols.
- Ensure adequate first aid resources and training are available across all shifts.
- Oversee maintenance and operations of the site’s facilities, including manufacturing, laboratory, and office spaces.
- Identify opportunities for energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable practices to align with environmental goals.
- Facilitate building improvements, including equipment and furniture installation, and oversee contractor management.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive EHS training programs tailored to the needs of different teams.
- Equip supervisors and managers with tools like Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) to enhance accountability and engagement in safety programs.
- Lead investigations into incidents, near-misses, and accidents, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Perform statistical analysis of incidents to identify trends and inform risk mitigation strategies.
- Manage and maintain compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and similar standards for continuous improvement of QEMS
- Drive initiatives to achieve and sustain certifications in environmental and occupational safety management systems.
- Develop and manage the EHS and Facilities budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation.
- Support cross-functional initiatives to improve operational safety and efficiency.
Qualifications
Diploma or degree in Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment, or a related field.
Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., BCIT Certificate, CRSP) or equivalent experience preferred.
5+ years of leadership experience in EHS or facilities management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial technology environment.
Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive organizational change without direct authority.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and facility management tools.
Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written) and conflict resolution capabilities.
Experience with sustainability initiatives and energy management programs.
Demonstrated ability to develop clear, actionable procedures and training materials.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively under pressure.
