Job Purpose

Alpha Technologies Ltd. is an established leader in the design and manufacture of powering solutions for the Telecom, CATV (Canada), Traffic, Security, Medical, Industrial and Renewable Energy industries. As a result of our continuing growth, we require an ENGINEERING Co-op Student to help support the development of test software and custom test equipment. Specific projects include LabVIEW software development and automated test equipment customization.

This is a 4-month co-op placement starting Sept 2021 - Dec 2021. To qualify as a candidate, individuals must be enrolled in the Co-op Program and have yet to graduate from a recognized post-secondary institution in Canada.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with Test Engineering team to develop automated test equipment.
  • Install and set up test equipment, build cables, harnesses, and fixtures.
  • Test system software debug and improvement.
  • Test results data analysis.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce test time while improving test system performance.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement & 5S within the organization.

 

Qualifications

  • 3rd to 4th year Electrical Engineering/Technology Co-op Student. 4 month or 8 month term.
  • Excellent problem solving & communication skills (written & spoken) are a must.
  • Experience with LabVIEW, C software development is required.
  • Experience with test instrument control is required.
  • Experience with analog & digital circuit design is required.
  • Good understanding of communication protocol (CAN, TCP/IP, serial, etc.)
  • Good understanding of system verification & validation.
  • Experience with LEAN manufacturing and 5S is an asset.
  • Ability to work cross functionally as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office,CADD).

  • This position will work in an office setting, expect minimal physical demands.
