This position will be focusing primarily on our Energy Systems line of business, which include telecommunications, IT, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), utilities and switchgear, security, emergency lighting and general electronics. Some of the reserve power brands include PowerSafe,DataSafe, and Genesis. Our extensive product range serves a variety of reserve power applications and consistently delivers the most effective, powerful and reliable batteries available.
Role Overview
This Senior Electrical Team Leader will lead a team of electricians, ensuring all work complies with safety regulations and company standards. Your responsibilities include installing and testing electrical systems, including power, lighting, DC equipment, batteries, and PLCs. You will be the primary point of contact for team members and will liaise with other departments to support production goals. All work is performed onsite in a safe, clean environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Technical
o Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and electrical standards.
o Ensure quality control standards are met on all projects.
o Troubleshoot complex electrical problems, providing solutions and guidance to the team.
o Work closely with Engineering to troubleshoot and refine designs.
o Analyse wiring diagrams and specifications for sequencing and operational planning.
o Use test instruments to trace and diagnose faults.
o Repair and replace defective wiring and components.
• Senior Team Leadership & Supervision
o Lead, supervise, and support a team of electricians, providing guidance and training as needed.
o Work with Production Supervisor to delegate tasks based on team members' skills, experience, and project needs.
o Ensure the performance of your team and provide feedback to team members.
o Install, test, maintain, and repair electrical systems, fixtures, and control equipment.
o Provide effective leadership support for all team members; work with the production Manager to appraise their performance honestly, effectively but also appropriately and provide appropriate professional training and development opportunities. - Management
o Plan, schedule, and assign daily tasks to ensure projects are completed on time.
o Monitor progress and address any issues.
o Collaborate with Procurement for material sourcing. - Other duties as required by the business
Ideal Candidate
• A Grade Electrician’s license, current Driver’s Licence, LVR certificate, and First Aid Certificate
• Highly proficient IT skills to support you to navigate a variety of IT platforms at any one time
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an electrician, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
• Proficiency in installing LV boards, room air conditioning systems, and PLC control systems
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. Advanced fault finding and trouble shooting skills
• Ability to prioritise workload
• Ability to work as part of a team, with or without supervision
• Familiarity with national electrical codes, SHE regulations, and relevant safety protocols
• Interest in Lean manufacturing initiatives, attention to detail and flexibility with working hours, including overtime capability.
