This position will be focusing primarily on our Energy Systems line of business, which include telecommunications, IT, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), utilities and switchgear, security, emergency lighting and general electronics. Some of the reserve power brands include PowerSafe,DataSafe, and Genesis. Our extensive product range serves a variety of reserve power applications and consistently delivers the most effective, powerful and reliable batteries available.
Role Overview
As an Electrical and Mechanical Estimator your primary responsibility will be to analyse and interpret client specifications and requirements, then prepare and deliver timely and accurate estimation of the costs associated with the complete suite of ICS solutions provided by EnerSys.
Main Responsibilities
• Support the sales team in pre-sales by developing competitive bid proposals that align with project specifications, timelines, and budget requirements.
• Ensure all solutions offered are compliant with Australian, New Zealand and other applicable Standards.
• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Prepare conceptual drawing packs, including building floor plans, electrical single-line diagrams (SLDs), and basic site layouts, ensuring sufficient technical detail for both external clients and internal manufacturing teams.
• Provide clear inclusions, exclusions and assumptions with all estimations.
• Work with the procurement team to source new components, products, materials and suppliers for best value.
• Continuously develop knowledge in DC Power, Solar, PLC, switchboards, prefabricated buildings and related solutions to enhance EnerSys’ market offerings.
• Conduct research on costs, including materials, labour, and equipment, as well as cost analysis of completed projects and identify cost reduction opportunities.
• Provide regular reports and liaise with the sales team to ensure estimates priorities are clear on estimating activities.
• Maintain and update a cost library for future projects to improve bid efficiency.
• Conduct risk assessments to identify potential project risks and mitigation strategies.
• Provide reporting on all activity as required.
• Other duties as required by the business.
Ideal Candidate
• Permanent Resident or Australian Citizen (mandatory).
• A grade electrician or tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a relevant field.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Strong communication, literacy, and numeracy skills.
• Advanced proficiency in problem-solving, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) in a Windows environment.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven experience as an Estimator, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the same industry.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Electrical and Building Codes & Standards such as AS/NZS 3000 and BCA.
• A track record of winning bids and preparing estimates in relevant sectors, including Prefabricated Buildings, Switchrooms, Solar, DC Systems, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Turnkey project experience across both electrical and mechanical disciplines is preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to assess customer requirements and industry developments.
• Exceptional time management skills-efficient, independent, and calm under pressure.
• Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as Microsoft Office and Salesforce.
• Results-driven, with a strong attention to detail.
