EnerSys provides various store energy solutions for industrial applications worldwide.  The company offers energy systems, which combine enclosures, power conversion, power distribution, and energy storage are used in the telecommunication, broadband and utility industries, uninterruptible power supplies, and other applications requiring stored energy solutions; motive power batteries and chargers that are utilized in electric forklift trucks and other industrial electric powered vehicles; and specialty batteries, which are used in aerospace and defense applications, large over-the-road trucks, automotive, medical, and security systems applications.  It also provides battery chargers, power equipment, battery accessories, and outdoor equipment enclosure solutions; and aftermarket and customer support services. The company sells its batteries under the PowerSafe, DataSafe, Hawker, Genesis, Odyssey, Cyclon, IRONCLAD, General Battery, Fiamm Motive Power, Oldham, Express, and NexSys brands.  The company was formerly known as Yuasa, Inc.  and changed its name to EnerSys in January 2001.  EnerSys was incorporated in 2000 and is headquartered in Reading, Pennsylvania. 

Job Purpose

The Transportation Commercial Marketing Manager will focus his/her efforts on providing Transportation marketing and sales support for the EMEA & APAC regions.   This individual will be the primary contact for sales and marketing personnel regarding our Transportation & Specialty markets and applicable products within them for pricing, quotes, contract review, analytics, spec review and sales support. He/She will work closely with Engineering on application issues, Marketing on strategy and analytics, and various departments as needed for bid and contract review.   In addition, this position will be responsible for administering pricing, quote proposals, CRM and SAP support.   On occasion, the incumbent will be required to make presentations to various internal or external audiences including Sales, Customer Service and Customers as well as assist Sales and Marketing personnel with customer presentations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage product pricing changes by updating all pricing related documentation, databases and operating systems.Communicate all pricing changes to internal customers as needed.

  • Analyze and monitor technological, commercial, and demographic factors via analytics of sales data, price sensitivity, research, trends and CRM so that market opportunities may be realized, and the effects of competitive activity may be minimized.  

  • Assist in the development of key strategic and tactical plans to increase sales, market share, and profits in the selected markets. 

  • Develop, review and negotiate customer contract proposals, terms and conditions, bid packets and specs.

  • Aid sales in forecasting, lead tracking, and demand generation via CRM and historical sales analysis.

  • Provide sales support by developing and implementing sales tools, attending trade shows, meetings and occasional sales callsto help maximize effectiveness.

  • Develop communications on product application topics and other product issues designed to assist with the selling process.

  • Work with Engineering to facilitate custom product design process, maintain an accurate database of currently available products and accessories, and act as a liaison with Engineering for the sales organization regarding technical and application issues.  

  • Create and maintain information and databases of what model batteries are used in every electric-powered vehicle sold and installed in EMEA & APAC. Liaison with the vehicle manufacturer’s as needed.

  • Pos can be homebased

  • Travel: 15-25%

  • Must have a 4-year degree in Business, preferably Marketing.  Graduate degree and/or professional memberships being a plus.
  • Preferable 2-3-year automotive industry experience in the Aftermarket and/or OEM channels with Engine Start batteries, chargers, systems, and/or related accessories in industrial and retail selling settings.
  • Preferable experience with Salesforce CRM and SAP.
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite of software with demonstratable experience of applications used for data analysis, presentation, and reporting
  • Possess strong managerial skills and ability to analyze, interpret and forecast changes in customer and market behaviors.
  • Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) in a professional manner when dealing with customers, field sales and company contacts.
  • Proficiency in the English language required.  Proficiency in German and/or other languages a plus.
