This position will report to our EnerSys Energy Systems business, which serves the telecom, cable broadband, industrial, renewable, and data center markets. Job Purpose

Directs and oversees all activities relating to the Hays Plant facility, including buildings, grounds, machinery, tooling, and equipment used to facilitate the manufacturing process, ensuring up time for machines for Production to meet expected output. Oversees maintenance department and directs the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure timeliness of repairs and efficiency of Maintenance Technicians. Directs activities of the Engineering staff to study and develop new technologies to automate and make manufacturing processes more efficient, to solve problems with engineering solutions, including PLC activities. Oversees and prepares the Plant capital budget and prepares Appropriation Requests (AR’s) to request funds for projects and proposals to upgrade facilities, equipment, and for emergency equipment replacements, repairs and other facility issues.

  • Responsible for the coordination of Cost Improve Program to generate savings from preventative maintenance, tooling, and method improvements.
  • Responsible for formulating policies, plans and procedures to administer maintenance programs.
  • Serves as the Plant contact and coordinate the scheduling of maintenance and repairs in the Plant.
  • Works with corporate Engineering to provide Plant improvements to meet the stated needs of the company’s strategies business plan and customer demands.
  • Coordinates and implements improvements through changes to processes, materials, vendors, equipment, and/or acceptance standards of existing equipment in cooperation with corporate personnel, using Lean methods and EOS tools.
  • Interprets and maintains compliance to engineering specifications, equipment, and maintenance requirements; enforce facility compliance requirement for ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 certification.
  • Participates in formulating and developing long range goals and objectives.
  • Prepares the annual capital budget to support projects and upgrades for the coming year.
  • Identifies and resolves mechanical and facility problems within the Plant. Collects, summarizes, analyzes and communicates data and information to establish and implementing proper corrective actions.
  • Manages/supervises Engineering and Maintenance personnel.  Provides regular feedback to employees using Continuous Performance Management tools.  Fosters a positive working environment by providing leadership, consistent communication and seeking employee input.
  • Manages capital projects.

Qualifications

Required:  Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Project Management or a related field plus 7-10 years’ experience in overseeing manufacturing facilities, engineering projects, process management or the equivalent, with at least five of those years in a supervisor capacity.

 

Preferred:  Master’s degree in a related Engineering field with more than ten years of experience in facilities engineering management.  Professional Engineering Certificate is a plus.  Professional society affiliation a plus.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to keyboard and do computer work 90% of the workday.
  • Ability to hear, answer and direct phone calls.
  • Ability to sit or stand at workstation.
  • Ability to move throughout the Plant.

 

EHS SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment (exposure to lead dust, acid, etc.)
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):  Employee is required to wear company-issued PPE when on the production floor.

Participates in regular blood draws to check blood lead, as required per policy
