Compensation Range: $91,100 - $136,600 

Compensation may vary based on applicant's work experience, education level, skill set, and/or location.  

Job Purpose

Our EnerSys/ABSL operation based in Longmont, CO is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer. As a Lead Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and optimizing cutting-edge manufacturing processes for the production of state-of-the-art Li-Ion batteries. You will work closely with a dynamic team on the front lines of space component technology and have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our programs.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviewing flight hardware drawings to ensure design for manufacturability and compliance with internal and external standards 
  • Supporting new design programs and providing input to complex manufacturing issues 
  • Generating assembly work instructions for complex tasks 
  • Preparing and making revision changes to manufacturing documentation and processes to improve product quality and procedures 
  • Designing, developing, and implementing manufacturing tooling for battery builds and associated systems 
  • Providing CAD drafting and design support for manufacturing 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in related discipline and typically 5 or more years of relevant experience
  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Familiarity working in multi-disciplinary teams

Desired Experience

  • Demonstrated experience authoring Work instructions/travelers 
  • Use of electronic Manufacturing Execution System (MES) (Factory Logix)
  • Spot Welding to AWS 17.2 or equivalent
  • Experience with IPC/WHMA-A-620- Cable and Wire Harness assemblies or equivalent
  • Experience with IPC J-STD-001- Soldering Requirements or equivalent
  • Familiarity in applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
  • Participation in dispositions of Non-Conformance generation through a Material Review Board (MRB)
  • Experience with new product introduction and transition to production
  • Exposure to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems
  • Goal-oriented and well-structured way of working
  • Knowledge of production processes
  • Able to effectively communicate with all levels of manufacturing and with site management
  • Self-starter with strong leadership and demonstrated problem-solving ability
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of aerospace assembly, integration, and test process and requirements
  • Experience mentoring Jr engineers and effective delegation of tasks
