Job Purpose
As a result of our continuing growth, we require a seasoned FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN – FIBER TAP INSTALLER
Reporting to the Field Service Manager, the Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation and servicing of Alpha products, primarily associated with fiber optic and network equipment at customer locations. Ensuring customer satisfaction with our products and services will be critical to the revenue growth of the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Installing Fiber Optic Taps at Poles
• Testing Taps with Power meter for Light Levels, OTDR for troubleshooting
• Adhere to Construction Standards
• Able to Operate Bucket Truck
• Ability to handle 28ft and 32ft Ladders
• Climbing Telephone/Hydro Poles
Qualifications
• Experience working in the field doing installation, maintenance and repair is preferred.
• Experience in the CATV, telecommunications and/or power industries highly desirable.
• Fiber optic and coaxial experience desirable
• Ability to work at heights over 30ft
• Ability to use fiber test equipment, OTDR, Spectrum Analyzer, Light Identifier, Power Source is preferred.
• Ability to lift equipment/ladders up to 75lbs
• Good English speaking/communication skills required (verbal and written).
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong computer skills using MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
• Valid Driver’s License is required
Work Environment
• 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday – Friday, however some weekends or overnights may be required with minimal notice
• Willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions
• Ability to travel up to 90% of the time
• Requirement to travel to remote sites
• In this position you will be assigned to many sites, routes and a large coverage area and will be asked to be in an on-call rotation in order to provide our customer emergency call outs
