This position will be focusing primarily on our Reserve Power applications, which include telecommunications, IT, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), utilities and switchgear, security, emergency lighting and general electronics. Some of the reserve power brands include PowerSafe,DataSafe, and Genesis. Our extensive product range serves a variety of reserve power applications and consistently delivers the most effective, powerful and reliable batteries available.

 

Job Purpose

Responsible for supervisory duties for all third shift production employees in the Assembly department. Supervises and coordinates activities of production employees engaged in operating a variety of equipment to manufacture parts or products. Promotes an environment committed to safety, quality, teamwork and efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assign tasks and duties to all employees based on production needs.
  • Establish and promote an environment of teamwork and respect.
  • Emphasize and support a safety culture of “zero incidents.”
  • Review, edit, and approve all timecards in Kronos system to ensure accuracy of hours worked and attendance details.
  • Report on daily and weekly production, quality and attendance numbers for the shift.
  • Complete incident reports and investigations in a timely manner, as needed. 
  • Follow all safety protocols and act as the main contact for all safety-related issues for the shift. Monitor safety and hygiene for self and others to ensure all safety measures are being taken to limit exposure to any hazardous materials.
  • Actively support efforts to keep employee blood lead levels under the established limits per company policy.
  • Conduct communication meetings to review policy updates or training as needed.
  • Interpret specifications and job orders to employees and assigns duties.
  • Responsible for ensuring all safety procedures are met by employees
  • Ensure that all employees are trained in their job duties and that training procedures are being followed 
  • Collaborates with other team members and members of management to ensure that the department is aligned with other processes in the facility.
  • Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications. Maintains scrap at less than 2.5%.
  • Directs workers in adjustment of machines and equipment to repair products that fail to meet standards. Coordinates ordering of parts for machinery as needed to maintain operations.
  • Establishes or adjusts operating procedures to ensure efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Actively engage in Lean manufacturing /EOS (Enersys Operating Systems) processes to include updating metrics and data, reporting out on production, and obtaining an EOS Belt certification.
  • Maintains department with emphasis on 5S practices. 
  • Follow and lead employees with the company’s vision and mission statement.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
     

Qualifications

Education/Experience: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) preferred.

 

Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and employees.

 

Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills: Ability to work with spreadsheets, graphs, charts and email applications, as well as timekeeping software. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications required.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages all 3rd shift employees (approximately 35 employees). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning and assigning duties and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
