Job Purpose
The Business Development Specialist will coordinate EnerSys Advanced Systems business development, pricing efforts, and proposal submissions. Activities are focused on Aerospace & Defense and Commercial Markets associated with thermal batteries, liquid reserve batteries, development programs, and government funded projects. The Business Development Specialist will work closely with program management, finance, legal, and engineering to ensure compliant and timely proposal submission, support program costing/pricing, and maintaining a positive relationship with the customer. This position has direct contact with customers, business unit leadership, and corporate executives and is considered a contributing role in the decision making for EnerSys Advanced Systems (EAS) business.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate sales for liquid reserve, thermals, and development programs to support the Munitions business and other EAS entities.
- Review Request for Proposals (RFP’s) and other solicitations for alignment with corporate goals and prepare proposal strategy and workflows to meet customer needs.
- Develop and establish relationships with the U.S. Government and key DoD Prime contractors (i.e. Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Boeing, etc). Work to create connections between key customers, EAS management, and the EnerSys executive team.
- Manage proposal compliance, maintain pricing targets, ensure on-time proposal submissions.
- Maintain a 5-year strategic plan and business roadmap.
- Work with program management to establish consistent customer messaging related to all compliance related communications.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of compliance and/or government contracting experience.
- Working knowledge of FAR 15 and 52 (preferred).
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Ability to read and comprehend defense industry proposals, procedures, FAR/DFAR clauses, and government contracts. Comfortable writing multi-volume proposals and coordinating technical input.
