Job Purpose

The Industrial Engineer is responsible for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance for critical systems that support the production of thermal batteries. The list of facilities systems includes, hydraulic presses of various tonnage, HVAC, Munters dehumidifiers and Polygon dehumidifier systems, chilled water systems, compressed dry air, process vacuum ovens, ultra-pure water, electrical distribution, and exhaust systems. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Maintenance team to execute predictive and preventive maintenance plans to eliminate catastrophic failures and unplanned maintenance of plant equipment including HVAC, compressors, dehumidifiers, utility gas distribution, etc.
  • Ensure all necessary facility systems are kept in reliable working condition and that they meet any required customer / regulatory specifications
  • Perform analysis and make recommendations regarding HVAC, chill water system, Munters & Polygon dehumidifier monitoring, operations, controls, and components
  • Perform a variety of instrumentation, controls/electronics and electrical trade functions, including modifications and revisions, and corrective and preventive maintenance, on facility systems, equipment, and components
  • Provides management reporting on common issues, asset retirement and replacement plans, KPIs on service company performance, and cost control initiatives
  • Helps develop and implement a maintenance associate development plan to ensure training and development of all facilities/maintenance technicians
  • Perform journeyman level duties in the installation, repair and maintenance of low voltage electrical equipment, systems and components. 
  • Conduct post-maintenance testing of systems, equipment, and components as necessary to complete work packages and ensure systems, equipment and components are returned to operational conditions
  • Completes evaluations of bids for relevant vendors

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, related field Or minimum of seven (7) years of experience with HVAC certification. 
  • 5+ years of experience in an industrial production facility in the role of Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Plant Engineer or other similar plant operations role; utilities, air gas, chemical, or refinery production experience preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years in hydraulics, electrical controls, dehumidifier systems and/or HVAC systems
  • Or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge
  • CMMS experience highly preferred
  • Background in Lean Six Sigma principles, Kaizen, and/or TPM highly preferred
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, layouts, and specifications in the performance of the duties to ensure system integrity is maintained

General Job Requirements

  • Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilos on a daily continuous basis. Anything heavier will be done with the assistance of a mechanical device or with the assistance of another employee.
  • Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime.
  • This position requires working in a plant/warehouse environment. Therefore, expect varying working conditions.
