Job Purpose
The Manufacturing Engineer I position is responsible for developing, maintaining and improving manufacturing processes. This role works closely with the cross-functional team and interacts with customers and vendors in a challenging environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Design, develop and oversee procurement of process tooling and fixturing.
• Participate in Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings and take an active role in the support of production batteries, failure reviews and the reporting of change notices to customers.
• Review product design drawings for feasibility/ manufacturability and provide feedback to product engineers.
• Develop and review Operating Instructions (OI’s), Manufacturing Engineering Instructions (MEEI’s) and Flow Tags (FTs) to clearly and accurately document manufacturing processes.
• Reside on the product Non-Conformance (NC) committee, provide dispositions and initiate Corrective Action Reports (CAR’s).
• Provide troubleshooting assistance and establish preventative maintenance procedures on production equipment such as hydraulic presses, high vacuum ovens and welders.
• Develop and maintain production labor standards.
• Identify hazardous conditions and coordinate with Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) to resolve the condition.
• Apply manufacturing engineering principles such as Lean, 5S, Value Stream Mapping and Statistical Progress Control to drive an environment of continuous improvement.
• Support departmental internal/ external audits and customer technical interchanges.
• Actively participate in writing equipment specifications, equipment selection, and conduct equipment qualifications.
• Maintain production metrics and PFMEAs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
- 0-2 years of experienceSolidworks
- AutoCAD (preferred not required)
- MS Office Word, Excel & PowerPoint
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification (preferred not required)
- Solidworks CSWP Certification (preferred not required)
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude
- Creative problem solving
- Knowledge of GD&T and the application of ASME Y14.5
- Technical writing and communication
