Job Purpose

The Quality Engineer I performs activities that ensure customer contractual compliance, continual quality improvements to products, services, and systems; and corporate compliance to ISO9001/AS9100. Activities are focused around assuring product is compliant and customer expectations are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Serve as an objective technical liaison between the company and customers regarding quality requirements, expectations, and concerns, with support from QE II or the Quality Manager.
Coordinate and support First Article Inspections (FAI), customer inspections, and government source inspections.
Develop and implement product and process quality plans to ensure compliance with customer and internal requirements.
Establish and maintain appropriate controls for production equipment and devices that directly impact product quality.
Evaluate and approve changes to products, manufacturing processes, and materials for quality and risk considerations.
Review engineering drawings, including GD&T, and process instructions for accuracy, completeness, manufacturability, and potential quality risks.
Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve in-process quality issues in collaboration with manufacturing and engineering teams.
Monitor product and process performance to identify trends, prevent nonconforming material, and drive continuous improvement opportunities.
Support internal and external quality and process audits, including preparation, execution, and follow-up activities

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience in Quality (ASQ certifications are a plus).
Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
Proficiency with standard measuring and inspection equipment.
Basic understanding of statistics and statistical analysis.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to interpret and communicate technical requirements, specifications, and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

ASQ certification (CQE, CQA, or related certification) preferred.
Experience working within an AS9100 Quality Management System.
Experience in an aerospace, manufacturing, or other highly regulated environment.
Familiarity with quality tools, inspection methods, and process improvement practices.
Experience coordinating quality activities across Engineering, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams.
