Job Purpose

Under the direction of the Vice President, the Director TPPL Sourcing will administer all activities associated with the procurement of materials and services in a cost effective, high quality and timely manner to ensure optimum bottom line results using honest, fair and ethical business practices.  The Director TPPL Sourcing will effectively communicate with all Americas manufacturing facilities and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries, excellent product quality, continuous improvement for cost reductions and improved cycle times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Direct all purchasing related activities for TPPL plants.
    Exercises discretion and independent judgment when dealing with critical matters within the Corporate Strategic Sourcing Department.
    Maximizes cash flow as related to purchasing activities.  Inventory and DPO management.
    Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability for the TPPL sites
    Establishes and fosters relationships with suppliers to ensure attainment of organization objectives.
    Contributes to overall EnerSys operations by providing expert advice/guidance to site purchasing and engineering teams.
    Proactively explores new programs for continuous improvements in material and process changes to achieve the best quality, reliability, pricing and delivery from suppliers.
    Collects and formulates supply chain data, advising Vice-President of potential problem areas and making suggestions for corrective action.
    Works closely with design engineering to develop manufacturing sources for new products and materials.
    Arranges for sales and/or disposal of excess and obsolete inventory.
    Monthly reporting activities to include, but not limited to, preparation of activity reports, analysis of monthly purchase price variances, cost improvement projects and accurate dollar spend activity.


Supervisory responsibilities include management of procurement professionals.


    Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, planning, analytical skills, targets oriented, market awareness and familiarity with MS Office Suite and ERP systems.
    Individual should be highly motivated and committed to professional standards and performance.
    Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain or Purchasing.  Master’s degree desirable.
    10 plus years as a purchasing professional in a related industry.

Multiple language skills are desirable

Project Management, Interpersonal and Organizational skills are required.  Excellent verbal, technical writing, presentation.

Must work well with other people and be a good team player.

Extensive travel will be required.  Some of this travel will be international.
