Job Purpose

The Principal Energy Storage Architect will oversee the design of the Energy Storage Systems (ESS) which includes the Battery Storage Systems (BESS), the Power Conversion System (PCS) and the energy management (EMS) with the following responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop ESS design and construction standards based on the latest safety and reliability industry practices.
  • Lead the design of the energy storage system for C&I and UPS data centers markets.
  • Create technical documentation, specifications, operating procedures and troubleshooting support for ESS assets.
  • Develop integration studies for specific customer sites.
  • Support and guidance in implementation in customer projects.
  • Provide technical support throughout the whole lifecycle of the offer and projects.
  • Lead the investigation of system failures, and integrate feedback into design and construction standards.
  • Follow technology advancements, code and policy changes, and safety and reliability practices which impact system design.
  • Elaborate preliminary design (PoC) which will be the foundations of the detailed engineering for projects.
  • Review the detailed engineering ensuring the fulfilment of the requirements to reach the energy and power demand and looking for the most cost-effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross functional groups to design & implement complex solutions.
  • Overall familiarity with hardware infrastructure with a specific focus on storage platforms such as C&I, UPS, or residential solar Systems . This includes sizing, design, deployment, configuration, commissioning, and field support.
  • Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
  • Designs, implements, monitors, enhances, and troubleshoots systems in assigned areas.
  • Mentors and guides the work of senior technical staff.
  • Adheres to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.


  • BS, MS or PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 10 years’ experience in energy storage, conceptualization, applicable code requirements and standards.
  • Experience with C&I or UPS data center.
  • Hands-on engineering experience.
  • Work will include optimization of projects, calculations, physical and electrical layout, as well as work with other discipline teams.
  • Advanced understanding of best practices for battery systems and integration with PCS & PV solar systems and EMS.
