Job Purpose

The Principal Software Systems Architect will drive the evolution of smart, connected, and safe energy storage systems based on EnerSys’s advanced technologies. This position will report to the Systems Engineering Director and will be responsible for multiple facets of software design activities shaping the future direction of products. Experience in guiding both safety critical embedded systems and cloud-based software is required providing expertise in selection of tools and methods to ensure safety, cybersecurity, and compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consult on multiple design teams providing expert recommendations and decisions on architectures and frameworks for development
  • Standardize the evaluation and selection process of optimal solutions providing clear justifications and documentation for future development.
  • Application and enforcement of safety and cybersecurity best practices for product development and deployment
  • Promote model based system engineering approaches aiding in the requirements and specification negotiations with project stakeholders and structuring the architecture of potential solutions
  • Provide expert opinions and recommendations to upper-management on advanced software based topics and future development directions.
  • Review software and project work products ensuring quality is maintained
  • Ensure full traceability from system requirements, decomposed software requirements, implementation, and testing.
  • Prepares proposal assessments and responses to potential customer and new opportunities.
  • Provide technical oversight to contractors

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar with 8+ experience (with telecom applications is a plus)
  • Experience with managing and analyzing Stakeholder requirements
  • 4+ years’ experience with developing and testing safety critical / audited products
  • Strong history of defining scope for new developments and leading successful projects
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency and advocacy of Requirements Management tools (e.g., Medini, DOORs, Polarian)
  • Expertise with automation, testing, CI/CD, and software quality practices.
  • Development background with multiple software languages and tools from embedded systems to cloud based deployments.
  • Understanding of both hardware and software development processes and requirement decomposition.
  • Background of performing system analysis and simulation to guide product development and requirements
