Job Purpose

Critical member of the Americas Accounting Organization responsible for the regional financial reporting, analysis for high priority regional accounts, and technical accounting support for subsidiary entities. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Ensure that the financial reporting requirements for all Americas based entities are prepared accurately, timely, and on a consistent basis following U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. 
  2. Provide leadership, training, guidance, and oversight to the accounting teams on US GAAP, company policies, and best practices.  Work with subsidiary units to establish and implement consistent processes and accounting treatments.
  3. Consolidate, reconcile, and analyze high priority (i.e., complex, significant judgement, value) regional accounts and provide meaningful, actionable data to the business. 
  4. Manage, prepare, and/or review the regional components of the account reconciliation, journal entry, and month-end close processes including eliminations. 
  5. Reporting and analysis of results involving in-depth analysis of actual results versus forecast/budgets ensuring that key operating drivers are understood. 
  6. Overall coordination and responsibility for the annual audit for the region. Interface with internal and external audit (EY). 
  7. Ensure Sox compliance which includes maintaining adequate process documentation to satisfy internal control, quality, and user requirements.
  8. Support ad hoc report and information requests.
  9. Stay abreast of current accounting and technological developments to continuously evaluate potential risks and opportunities for reducing costs associated with accounting and transaction processing while maintaining or improving data availability and analysis. Embrace and incorporate EnerSys Operating System and general lean initiatives into culture.
  10. Other projects, tasks, and duties as assigned.



  1. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications: experience with enterprise resource planning systems (ie. SAP, BaaN); consolidation tools (i.e. Hyperion) and data warehouses preferrred.
  2. 10 years’ experience in a national audit firm and/or demonstrated advancement in corporate or general accounting roles.
  3. CPA preferred.
  4. College graduate.  MBA preferred.
  5. Additional language fluency is preferred (i.e., Spanish, Portuguese)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. Must have strong working knowledge of US GAAP.
  2. Must have familiarity with monthly close cycle.
  3. Must be a hands-on contributor.
  4. Must have superior interpersonal skills that allow the candidate to challenge the status quo in a professional, inclusive, and motivational manner. 
  5. Must be able to effectively manage projects from initiation through completion. 
  6. Must be able to manage multiple projects and tasks with various deadlines.
  7. Must be able to extract, organize, analyze, and report data in a manner that is useful and relevant for making business decisions with the use of various IT systems (i.e., local ERP systems including SAP, data warehouses, etc.).
  8. Must be able to partner across functions with relevant business teams to determine proper handling of financial transactions.
  9. Must be able to think strategically while executing towards initiatives across multiple timelines.
  10. Must have a good understanding of business concepts in a complex international manufacturing organization.
  11. Must take responsibility for maintaining a safe working environment by following safety procedures, using personal protective equipment as appropriate, being aware of surroundings, and correcting or reporting potential safety hazards.
  12. Must be able to communicate (orally and in writing) in a professional manner when dealing with employees and management both inside and outside the accounting department.
