Job Purpose

The Systems Engineer will support the enabling of new technology through commercialization of advanced energy storage systems for telecom applications.  This position will report to the Systems Engineering Manager and will be responsible for implementing systems thinking towards the creation and development of solutions that meet product technical and functional requirements. The engineer fulfilling this role will effectively participate in concurrent complex projects with a focus on achieving technical and financial objectives by working closely with multi-disciplined engineering teams.  The ideal candidate should have comprehensive and demonstrated knowledge of systems engineering and utilization of the tools and processes to manage complex solutions.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports the creation of functional and technical specifications based on product requirements and industry standards for system and subsystem architectures
  • Evaluates and solves hardware and/or software interface problems
  • Defines input and output parameters
  • Ensures integration of the entire system and subsystem
  • Reviews, evaluates and derives requirements for testing
  • Supports the preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures, and schedules for complete systems and/or subsystems
  • Coordinates subsystem and/or system testing activities with internal test engineers and third-party facilities
  • Performs analysis of test results and prepares comprehensive subsystem and system level evaluation reports to verify and validate system performance.
  • Documents discrepancies and performs integration regression testing to verify incorporated fixes to software, hardware components, subsystems and systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Preferred is Master’s degree or higher in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency with Systems Engineering tools
  • Experience in one or more of the following roles for systems engineering with desire to learn other roles:
    • Requirements Owner
    • System Architect/Designer
    • System Analyst
    • Systems Integration
    • Validation/Verification Engineer
    • Systems Logistics/Operations
    • Systems Processes
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools (e.g., Medini, DOORs, Polarian)
  • Experience developing scripts using VBA, JavaScript, or similar
