Job Purpose

We are now accepting applications for a Quality Supervisor position, reporting to the Quality Manager. This is a Salary position and to be considered you must meet the job requirements. The Quality Supervisor is responsible for initiating and administering plant quality assurance initiatives. Ensures product design and processes comply with Corporate and Marketing standards.  Directs the plant Battery Counsel International (BCI) and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) compliance programs.  Trains and supervises quality inspectors as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  1. Directs programs and procedures to insure ISO/BCI/UL compliance.
  2. Initiate and participate in process improvement teams and processes.
  3. Maintain high visibility shop floor presence
  4. Provide and support daily audit and compliance program for department.
  5. Member of facility and corporate audit team.
  6. Manage life testing program and QAP and Life Testing area.
  7. Active member of quality team and provides daily QA support.  
  8. Monitor key plant operations / measurables and recommend actions to be taken to improve yields and overall productivity.
  9. Evaluate/qualify and recommend new capital equipment that will improve reliability and/or lower overall costs.
  10. Daily reporting of quality KPIs at MDI boards
  11. Active participation in EOS initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications: The minimum requirements for this position are a four-year degree in Business Management or a technical field, from an accredited educational institution, a minimum of six (6) months of quality experience in a manufacturing environment, and one (1) year of previous supervisory experience is required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:   A four-year degree in a technical field and two years of quality experience in a battery manufacturing facility.  

 
Competencies:

  • Direct and performs highly diversified non routine duties requiring critical determinations, makes independent judgment based on partial and or limited information with moderate supervision and direction.
  • Read and interpret technical, manuals, bulletins, and product requirements. 
  • Ability to diagnose problems and non conformities and detect faulty operations, defective material. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Ability to organize and prioritize various assignments/tasks.
  • Must interface effectively with suppliers, plant management, production employees, and corporate functions, occasionally customers to exchange information and resolve problems.
  • Possess creativity with excellent analytical skills, high personal performance standards and be comfortable operating in a fast paced environment.

 
Supervisory Responsibilities:  The Quality Supervisor supervises multiple quality inspectors

 

Language Skills:  Ability to effectively communicate. Explains technical requirements and abstract ideas in understandable verbal and written directions

 

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to work with and apply complicated, abstract mathematical concepts such as fractions, division, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability analyze and determine root causes and apply corrective actions as applicable.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills:  Highly proficient computer skills are required, including ability to use MS office, and database software. Must have the ability to analyze software applications and utilize software to meet department needs.
