This position will be focusing primarily on our Motive Power applications, which include industrial lift trucks and pallet jacks, rail equipment, mining equipment, and airline ground support equipment. Some of the motive power brands include Hawker, Ironclad, General Battery, and Fiamm. Wherever there is a need for motive power, EnerSys offers the perfect energy solution.


Job Purpose

Design and develop electrical and electronics engineering components to support the company's core products. Engineer applications to meet the needed customer requirements such as (AC and DC), thermal control, and alarms. Direct the development of standards related to engineering practices including part creation, testing, and validation. Observe standard practices and procedures for improvements using LEAN principles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, create and maintain wiring diagrams, cable assemblies, alarm schematics and related systems to support various cabinet functions and for use in new product development.
  • Collect needed applications information based on customer requirements and engineer appropriate power, thermal and control solutions.
  • Perform cost trade off analysis throughout the electrical design process.
  • Direct product changes and initiate Engineering Change Orders (ECO) to document and implement those changes.
  • Develop test plans and validate various products and solutions, addressing issues such as thermal performance, backup capacity, battery temperature control, and software coding.
  • Research and respond to technical questions from production personnel to support construction and troubleshooting of cabinets. Interpret manuals as needed.
  • Support field operations by addressing customer concerns; assist field staff, customers, and vendors in developing solutions for field encountered problems and changing demands.   
  • Direct relevant electrical standards and practices to the Engineering Standard Board.    
  • Conduct laboratory testing, research and development for validation and troubleshooting on an as needed basis.
  • Complete other tasks assignments and projects as directed.
  • Provide recommendations for best practices by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing user issues.


  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in AC & DC power systems in a wireless telecommunications applications and testing environment preferred.
  • Experience with UL & Bellcore standards in relation to Telecommunications (NEBS, GR -487) and outdoor cabinets (UL 50, 58, 508A) a preferred.
  • Experience in design software or circuit and cable assembly layout, working knowledge of Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) preferred.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate standard electrical testing equipment. Specific experience with oscilloscopes, power supplies and multimeters preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, with emphasis on Excel; programming basics in C or C++
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills
  • English language fluency
