Job Purpose

Support all aspects of IT infrastructure for assigned manufacturing facilities including network (LAN/WAN, VOIP, VPN, WiFi), servers, desktops, phones, printers and network cabling.  Ensure service availability and performance while protecting against unauthorized access and malicious threats as part of a team effort.  Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as primary liaison for manufacturing site support and administration;  regularly communicate with local plant leadership to ensure requirements are met. 
  • Provide deskside and remote support for a variety of end users and computing environments, including desktop / laptop, mobile devices, printers / copiers, and various software applications 
  • Assist in the administration and configuration of site specific IT equipment (Switches, Routers, Firewalls, Wireless, VoIP Phone System, Servers, etc) adhering to corporate requirements and guidelines as part of a team effort 
  • Report, accept and or help to resolve infrastructure, system and security related system problems, keeping corporate IT personnel and management advised of problem status and resolution 
  • Enforce and follow all corporate IT policies and procedures including but not limited to system administration, security, wireless access, remote access and user system access 
  • Help ensure the integrity and confidentiality of information residing in corporate servers, databases, workstations and other systems; to immediately notify corporate IT management of issues or potential issues that may be discovered 
  • Work with other corporate IT specialists in analyzing/solving cross platform software/ hardware issues and assisting other corporate IT team members with support cases as necessary 
  • Log all support requests and resolutions in corporate IT help desk ticketing system 
  • Create and/or maintain corporate IT related information records and documentation 
  • Travel periodically to North American facilities to provide technical support and information technology infrastructure changes 
  • Perform limited user administration on network user accounts 
  • Maintain and update asset records of all software and hardware information in corporate IT asset database 
  • Coordinate repairs for equipment with outside contracted vendors 
  • Recommend system modifications to reduce problems and or improve performance 
  • Assist with new site design and build out 
  • Work with vendors and contractors arranging structured cabling installation as required 

Qualifications

  • 2 year degree in computer information sysems or equivalent training or experience
  • 2 to 4 years experience in IT/Helpdesk Support 
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills 
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language 
  • Ability to resolve problems independently 
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment 
  • Expert knowledge of TCP/IP, and other network protocols, including their vulnerabilities and solutions 
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities 
  • Ability to follow and create project plans as directed by management and provide quantifiable project updates throughout the project 
  • Strong customer service orientation 
  • Hands-on experience with devices such as switches and wireless access controllers / access points 
  • Broad hands-on knowledge of network and IT security components, including firewalls, anti-virus software  
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment 
  • Strong knowledge of current systems software, and modern Windows operating systems 
  • Solid working knowledge of VLAN and QoS implementation 
  • Ability to implement a wide degree of creativity and latitude in evaluating solutions 

Desireable Quaifications:

  • relevant industry certifications a plus.  i.e. CCNA, MCSE, NET+, SEC+ 

General Job Requirements

  • Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds/11.5 kilos on occasions.
  • Must be able and willing to be on-call.
  • Must be able and willing to work varying schedules which may include nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • This position requires working in a plant/warehouse environment. Therefore, expect varying working conditions.
