This position will be focusing primarily on our Energy Systems line of business, which include telecommunications, IT, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), utilities and switchgear, security, emergency lighting and general electronics. Some of the reserve power brands include PowerSafe,DataSafe, and Genesis. Our extensive product range serves a variety of reserve power applications and consistently delivers the most effective, powerful and reliable batteries available.

 

Job Purpose

Perform a professional accounting process involving compilation, consolidation and analysis of financial data for the business unit that comply with existing corporate financial policies and regulations. Work within an agreed plan and support / coach junior team members.  Ensure that reporting is correct, timely and compliant to procedures and legislation, identify any shortcomings and recommend improvements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Apply accounting practices and techniques to the classification and recording of data
  • Compile and analyze financial information and provide commentary and explanation on items of particular significance
  • Prepare, analyze and compose reports as required e.g., income statement, balance sheets, cost reports
  • Prepare annual budget submission and monthly forecasts
  • Plan, analyze and collect information to determine the cost of business activity and liaise with Plant Manager and operations on any key variances
  • Prepare estimates of new and proposed product costs
  • Help in preparing month-end close of the general ledger
  • Maintain cost accounting system
  • Classify the costs accurately and generate PPV reports
  • Manage quarterly inventory reserves in accordance with company policy which follows GAAP guidance
  • Prepare selected balance sheet reconciliations and analysis to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and perform analysis and reporting specific to standard cost variances (material, labor overhead variances)
  • Assist in the coordination of physical inventory and reconcile raw material, WIP and finish goods accounts
  • Provide variance analyses relating to manufacturing output variance, indirect material cost usage, PPV, and inventory cost, and absorption variances
  • Prepare product profitability report for the management and perform analyses of engineering BOM explosion of finish goods
  • Contribute to the development of accounting policies, procedures and guidelines for the business unit
  • This position may have supervisory responsibilities

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Accounting degree
  • CPA designation
  • 6-10+ years of accounting experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in statutory reporting requirements
  • SAP
  • Microsoft Office

General Job Requirements

  • This position will work in an office setting, expect minimal physical demands.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime.
