This position will be focusing primarily on our Energy Systems line of business, which include telecommunications, IT, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), utilities and switchgear, security, emergency lighting and general electronics. Some of the reserve power brands include PowerSafe,DataSafe, and Genesis. Our extensive product range serves a variety of reserve power applications and consistently delivers the most effective, powerful and reliable batteries available.

 

Job Purpose

Oversee the manufacture and delivery of the highest quality products in the most cost-efficient, timely and safest manner to meet or exceed customer expectations. Provide results driven technical and administrative leadership in the Assembly and Water Spider functions. Key areas of accountability include leading all department activities, planning, resource management, training, quality, and continued improvement of responsible areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Determine priorities, set tasks, direct workflow, outline materials methods, and provide direction for assembly and water spider personnel that meet the business plan and work force utilization requirements.
  • Directly manage those personnel assigned including staffing and personnel placement, employee relations, performance appraisals, discipline and termination, salary administration, mentoring, and career development.
  • Make all payroll and production corrections in Kronos system.
  • Establish departmental goals and objectives that provide world-class performance to the organization.
  • Establish and track meaningful departmental reports & measurements.
  • Ensure proper execution through the use of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and metrics.
  • Coordinate and communicate with other department representatives to ensure Assembly activities are aligned to achieve the schedule, fulfill sales orders, meet inventory requirements, ensure on-time delivery, and meet or exceed customer requirements and business goals.
  • Develop, update, and implement operating and quality control procedures, and ensure they are met.
  • Ensure established procedures and processes are followed.
  • Proactively lead the Assembly and QA team to continuously improve processes and procedures.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Ensure accuracy of data in the SAP system including location, WO confirmations, quantity on hand, etc.
  • Champion continuous improvement efforts with the Team.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and TL 9000 standards.
  • Organize and maintain Assembly areas for efficient material flow, storage and handling, including labeling, age sensitive materials, and single piece flow.
  • Participate in and support safety audits.  
  • Review and ensure compliance with the Company's safety program.
  • Champion continuous improvement efforts with the team and promote healthy, respectful communications.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.    
     

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

This position contains supervisory responsibilities

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Minimum 10 years of assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 6 years of previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Toyota, Demming, and other similar productivity improvement tools preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with operating internal and external software systems at an advance level not limited to: Word, creating Excel spreadsheets, graphs and charts, preparing presentations and using statistical software to analyze and interpret process data. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of inventory movements and associated ERP/MRP transactions. SAP experience preferred. 
  • General knowledge of mechanical and electrical assembly, QA principles; knowledge and experience in Managing Assembly Operations.
  • Self-motivated, energetic, dependable, and thorough with strong planning, organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking, attention to detail, written, verbal, and presentation skills required.  
  • Ability to accurately and thoroughly document processes, procedures, and training documents
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively delegate and the ability to evaluate and positively influence performance.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher• 5+ years related experience and/or training

General Job Requirements

  • This position will work in an office setting, expect minimal physical demands.
  • This position requires working in a plant/warehouse environment. Therefore, expect varying working conditions.
  • Must be able and willing to work varying schedules which may include nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds/11.5 kilos on occasions.
