Job Purpose

Under general direction, oversees, manages and directs the programs and activities of the distribution center, inventory control, distribution functions, production planning/scheduling, MRP and materials management. Liaise with multiple customer services and factories. Lead and drive continuous improvement plans and promote EnerSys Operating System (EOS). Manages operations and staff to assure a smooth and continuous work flow and achieves maximum efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Job Positioning:
The incumbent reports Director Supply Chain for Global TPPL and will function with minimal direct supervision.

2. Environmental Factors:
The incumbent must interact effectively with people at all levels, both inside and outside of the company.

  • Responsible for $10m+ operational budgets, $20m+ inventory accountability, $200m+ in shipments and 60+ employees on multiple shifts.
  • Responsible for ensuring all activities within EnerSys run facilities meet US Customs regulations for Foreign Trade Zones.
  • Responsible for production planning activities within the DC related to light assembly of materials and picking/packing. Including labor utilization, materials management using MRP and meeting quality specifications.
  • Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, local regulations, OSHA and EPA requirements.
  • Oversees and manages strategic activities of the warehouse & operational supervisors or managers on multiple shifts.
  • Oversees and insures all company polices and procedures are being followed. Develops and implements policies with Sales, Customer Service, Quality, EOS, TPPL Master Scheduling and Procurement.
  • Oversees and manages strategic activities of planning team & ensuring proper communication and overview with customer service.
  • Interviews, hires, provides training and conducts performance evaluations for all DC employees. Assists in the training of warehouse employees such as Forklift training, ISO policies, house keeping and safety procedures.
  • Deploy DC Strategy as per L3 matrix considering operations/customer/EOS/Quality/EH&S goals.
  • Provides support, direction and coaching to subordinate employees in the areas of disciplinary action and problem resolution.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and up-keep of all building operations such as HVAC, electrical, telephones, safety equipment and company machinery. 
  • Assists with planning and development of departmental budgets and monitors expenditures.
  • Responsible for managing overall inventory control procedures to conform to required EnerSys/Reserve Power in multiple locations.  Such as, but not limited to, physical inventory cycle count and reconciliation of discrepancies as required.
  • Able to maintain all corporate metrics related to the distribution center, customer service, on time delivery and budgets.
  • Proven track record of implementing change, improving processes, leading teams, operations planning and general distribution operation management.

  • Knowledge of applicable affective ISO standard(s) experience helpful.
  • Knowledge of Hazmat specification helpful.
  • Willingness and ability to lead, supervise and train.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and/or 10 years of Distribution management experience.  Master Degree a plus.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly both written and verbally.
  • Must have computer skills based in ERP systems and Microsoft Suite applications.
