This position will be focusing primarily on our Reserve Power applications, which include telecommunications, IT, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), utilities and switchgear, security, emergency lighting and general electronics. Some of the reserve power brands include PowerSafe,DataSafe, and Genesis. Our extensive product range serves a variety of reserve power applications and consistently delivers the most effective, powerful and reliable batteries available.

 

Job Purpose

Manage the overall EH&S responsibilities for the operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Implements, through supervisors and hourly workforce, safety procedures and practices that are identified as part of the plant’s work safety program.

Plans, organizes, and coordinates departmental activities providing subordinates clear direction in their responsibilities and daily activities.

Investigates accidents/incidents, prepares management reports, and follows up on recommended mitigations.

Audits operating departments for safety compliance, reporting on results and citing areas where improved practices are required.

Administers safety programs, safety practices, and identification of safety equipment to meet OSHA standards and company safety objectives.

Manages the medical care of employees who have workplace illnesses or injuries from time of incident to return to work to provide satisfactory treatment, contain costs, and allow for return to work as soon as possible.

Administers the environmental compliance program including; hazardous waste shipments, wastewater monitoring, and environmental sampling.

Administers the worker’s compensation insurance program, files claims, and maintains related records.

Coordinates the Safety Committee activity.

Creates periodic management reports summarizing worker injury, accident, and safety audit data for management review and action.

Trains supervisors and their employees in safety procedures and use of safety equipment, both as initial training and annual up-date training as required by OSHA and the company safety program.

Develops monthly safety meeting curriculum and lesson plans for supervisors.

Qualifications

Four-year Bachelor of Science degree in related field, and 5+ years experience in E, H & S or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. 

Prefer: Masters Degree with 7+ years of experience in environment, health and safety.

Language Skills:  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effective present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills: A high level of Mathematic skills such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.  Must be creative, have excellent analytical skills, above average knowledge and experience in application of statistical techniques.
