Job Purpose

This position supports the EnerSys Operating System (EOS) transformation efforts. This position implements and supports actions that bring about improvements to operations and processes which may include, but are not limited to, safety, quality, delivery, cycle time, growth, margin expansion and inventory levels.

 

Projects will be integrated with the region / plants lean deployment efforts and meet the guidelines, criteria and metrics established by the business.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Executing against long and short-term objectives to support EOS goals.
  2. Working with necessary plant personnel to identify, address, and eliminate process related obstacles.
  3. Assisting in the change of systems/processes as required in support of the EOS initiatives.
  4. Learn value stream mapping techniques to design optimal information, material, and production flow methods.
  5. Act as a change agent to bring about improvements in process through the active support, participation in leadership of Rapid Improvement Events; includes:
    1. Owning pre and post standard work.
    2. Participating in facilitating projects/events.
    3. Participate in MDI gemba walks.
  6. Help update and maintain visual performance tools, including mission control and MDI boards.
  7. Conduct cycle time analysis, time studies, work balance/flow improvements, work place analysis and improvement.
  8. Help develop more efficient ways to use people, machines, materials, information, and energy to make a product or service.

Regular in person attendance with on time arrival/departure.   Required to work irregular hours on short notice. Punctuality and dependability are a job requirement. 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 24 months manufacturing experience.
  • Successful demonstration of Lean thinking and teamwork.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A two year degree in a related field or at least 3 years’ experience in a process improvement functions at a manufacturing facility or distribution center.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

 

COMPETENCIES:

  1. Ability to lead an improvement team. 
    1. Must be a results-oriented “change agent" who is an effective business systems thinker.
  2. Able to learn statistical analysis tools/methodology and basic project management.
  3. Regular in person attendance with on time arrival as scheduled.   Required to work irregular hours on short notice.
    1. Punctuality and dependability are a job requirement.
  4. Ability to assist in a group’s activities and discussions using a defined process.
  5. Ability to energize and motivate teams.
  6. Ability to recognize conflict and take appropriate action within scope of the role.
  7.  Possess above average written and verbal communication skills; be competent with computer skills in use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, with ability to create spreadsheets for analysis and tracking of data-based metrics.
  8. Understanding of manufacturing, principles/practices, effective oral/ written communication, and excellent interpersonal skills.

 

TRAVEL REQUIRED: Occasional travel may be required.
