Job Purpose

Improve the organizational effectiveness through the coordination of EnerSys operating System activities to support the business' growth, productivity, and quality objectives. Specific responsibilities include MDI, RCA, process improvement activities, RIE/A3, VSA and deployment and culture change to continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for supporting all departments to achieve their goals regarding MDI KPI.
  • Participate in activities to improve Manufacturing/Business processes in management, the front office, and on the shop floor employees.
  • Lead and facilitate RCA, VSA, 5S+ and Standard Work events, structured problem-solving events, Kaizen Events/RIEs, leveraging other Lean tools as needed.
  • Champion the Find-IT Fix-It process including support of all areas in the plant in capturing improvements and monitoring progress.
  • Mentor other employees in the identification and elimination of waste, including training.
  • Serve as Lean Tool. Provide expertise and support to other areas in the Lean tools.
  • Support the deployment of corporate driven EOS initiatives.
  • Lead activities to achieve a reduction in the elements of Cost of Non-Conformance warranty, scrap, rework, reactive maintenance, premium freight and excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Closely work with employees during their term to support them in achieving the goals and expectations when applicable.
  • Perform other duties as required.


Employee Relations:

  • Communicate with administraive, plant and supervisory staff as required.
  • Perform overtime as necessary in accordance with both company policy and legislative requirements.
  • Provide and/or participate in training as required.
  • Comply with company rules, regulations and policies as stated i n the Employee Guidebook
  • Act as team player and participate in department and/or plant committees.
  • Operational Excellence.
  • Report any deficiencies in systems, facilities, machinery, equipment and.or tools. Record and/or report product damage/nonconformities.
  • Comply with EnerSys Quality System policies and procedures.
  • Participate and contribute to continuous improvement (EOS).
  • Implement Lean manufacturing at a departmental level using lean tools and philosophies.
  • Identify/implement improvements to department workstations and department layouts.
  • Implement setup reduction.
  • Identify/Implement cost improvements to the manufacturing processes.
  • Establish continuous flow of production lines.
  • Reduce material handling.
  • Improve overall product manufacturing efficiency and quality.
  • Maintain Lean awareness through visual and verbal communication.
  • Coordinate with Lean Area Champions in a continuous effort ot sustain Lean progress.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in fabrication/assembly environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in USA without company sponsorship.

Position Criteria:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of continuous improvement methods, approaches and tools.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing methodology.
  • Strong interpersonal and planning skills with proven ability to lead change through both direct and indirect (influencing)abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of the 8 Lean Tools and the appropriate applications including verification of effectiveness.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of the basics concepts of problem solving and analytical techniques (A3, 8D, Root Cause Analysis, etc)
  • Manufacturing & Quality Control porcesses/procvedures.
  • Leadership skills
  • Public speaking/effective meeting skills 
  • Understaqnding of safety requirements.
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a team - leading team on projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post secondary education/training in business/manufacturing/engineering - or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with Lean or Six Sigma
  • Experience with project management.
