Job Purpose

The occupational nurse will support the facility’s Environment Health and Safety department by being the primary contact person for any illness or injury related situations. The nurse will also handle all worker’s compensation related claims, schedule and conduct regular blood draws, provide training on CPR/First aid and other health and wellness education programs.

  • Provide Direct care for the treatment of occupational injuries and illnesses using established medical protocols and refer for further evaluation or treatment as necessary.
  • Perform and coordinate occupational health surveillance testing including blood draws, pulmonary function testing, vision screening, etc.
  •  Actively assist with workers’ compensation cases with manager’s direction.
  •  Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical files for all employees.
  •  Ability to work various shifts, scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
  • Must be willing to be on call for all shifts to advise and support plant first responders as well as plant management
  •  Assist local occupational health provider with employee medical examination scheduling.
  • Facilitates the return to work process for on the job injuries and illnesses.  Works with EHS team as wells as operations management to determine appropriate positions and tasks that comply with any work restrictions.
  • Maintains effective occupational accident/injury/illness reporting procedures.
  •   Maintain an adequate supply of medical, safety, and health supplies
  •  Participate in investigation of accidents, injuries, and illnesses
  • Prepare workers compensation reports and records
  •  Lead the facilities Ergonomics Committee with support from Manager.
  •   Administer HepB, Flu, and other appropriate shots.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

LPN Certification and 2 or more years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

LPN Certification with 5 or more years of experience in Occupational Health.
