Job Purpose

The principal purpose of the Quality Manager’s position is to ensure that the manufacturing facility fulfills all quality requirements, from supplied components to manufacturing quality, customer satisfaction, and QMS. The candidate will be an experienced Manager, well versed in quality tools, continuous improvement, automotive IATF 16949 standards, etc. This high exposure role will liaise with other EnerSys departments such as Operations, Product Development, Sales & Marketing, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages and trains personnel regarding aspects of quality assurance or product quality. 
  • Drives department personnel to implement continuous improvement activities and ensure the resolution of complex quality problems. 
  • Completes top level quality trends analyses for problem resolution or management reviews, including large data sets using statistical software. Reporting may include project status, process behavior, identification of opportunities for improvement, and/or defect reduction.
  • Planning and coordinating engineering and technical resources to facilitate complex problem solving in a fast-moving environment.
  • Responds and reacts to supplier quality concerns, EnerSys manufacturing processes, and/or customer complaints.
  • Responsible for IATF 16949 activities fulfilling all aspects of the QMS requirements, including quality system audits, product audits, and manufacturing process audits per VDA 6.3. 
  • Support APQP activities for product development, ensuring top quality for new product launches or redesign efforts. 
  • Actively participate in EnerSys Operating System (EOS) efforts for daily application of lean manufacturing tools for problem solving, rapid improvement events, gemba walks, etc.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. 

  • BS in Engineering/Science with five years of experience in Quality. Preference will be given to experience manufacturing advanced lead acid batteries. 
  • Management background and knowledge of statistical process control.
  • Six sigma certification, black belt preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  •  Experience managing change in a large organization.
  • Strong familiarity with manufacturing processes and quality control methods
