Conduct evaluations and analyzes materials, products, and processes using Quality techniques and procedures.

Job Purpose


  • The Scrap Technician is responsible for the analysis and disposition of internal non-conforming product. Thjis includes, but is not limited to recording results into a MS Access database, completing necessary documentation to maintain an accurate inventory system, verifying weekly scrap and rejects with production team on a weekly basis and making corrections when necessarey, as well as other duties assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Perform teardown analysis on non-conforming product and record results in MS Access
  • Review weekly scrap reports with Production team for accuracy using MS Excel.
  • Participate and contribute in weekly scrap review meetings to help generate ideas for improvements
  • Work alongside Inventory control to ensure product is dispositioned correctly.
  • Perform testing of products using either the Formation area or other instruments as directed by Supervisor.
  • Return to stock any product that is deemed to be satisfactory after detailed analysis and extensive testing with support of UPS Tester.
  • Assist Quality Team with other projects on an as-needed basis.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Conform to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.
  • Learn the roles of other areas of the QA team to assist when needed.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.



  • Ability to work with heavy material ( > 50 lb.) in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills including QA applications, word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work without close supervision
  • Must be detail oriented and organized.
  • Ability to multitask handling multiple projects at any given time.
  • Ability to be flexible with schedule, possibly working odd times occasionally.
  • Willingness to learn new skills to become a better asset to the team.0
  • Demonstrate the ability to Measure & Evaluate the Product, Utilize SPC Data



  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to do basic math.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand the local language.
  • Possess a valid forklift driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some Secondary or Trade School preferred.

General Job Requirements

  • Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds/11.5 kilos on occasions.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.
  • Must be able and willing to work varying schedules which may include nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • This position is exposed to harmful materials such as lead/fiberglass products. Periodic blood tests are required to measure the level of lead. Precautions are taken by the company/employee to reduce the risk of exposure and help ensure everyones safety.
  • This position requires working in a plant/warehouse environment. Therefore, expect varying working conditions.
