This position will be focusing primarily on our Reserve Power applications, which include telecommunications, IT, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), utilities and switchgear, security, emergency lighting and general electronics. Some of the reserve power brands include PowerSafe,DataSafe, and Genesis. Our extensive product range serves a variety of reserve power applications and consistently delivers the most effective, powerful and reliable batteries available.


Job Purpose

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for shipping NorthStar Battery products in accordance with delivery schedules in the most efficient, cost-effective manner to customers both internationally and domestically. The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for the accuracy of shipments and satisfying all compliance requirements. <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">In addition, assigns work, ensures that training needs are met and handles all administrative issues. Oversees the receipt, processing, storing, picking, packing and shipping of materials and parts. Independently and routinely assigns and supervises work, and trains subordinates. Maintains documentation in accordance with company policies and procedures. <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Plans, orders and directs all activities and employees within the shipping department and shipping activities for manufacturing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Works with customer service and finishing supervisor to resolve problems and/or concerns as they relate to customer order fulfillment or expectations.
  2. <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Interfaces with internal and external customers regarding product delivery schedules
  3. <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Provides daily direction and leadership to the shipping department team members to assure each employee is accountable and successful for their specific assignments. Makes recommendations for manpower needs including involvement in recruitment and selection process as well as employee disciplinary actions in the shipping department.
  4. <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Accountable for staffing, training, motivation and leadership within area of responsibility. Develop a <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">team work environment; builds departmental standards for performance; ensures that all employees in <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">the shipping department are properly trained, stressing the importance of safety, continuous improvement and customer satisfaction, while maintaining efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  5. <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Determines the most efficient means of transportation for a particular shipment within budgetary guidelines. 
  6. <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Schedules transportation and deliveries for NSB trucks and common s.carriers.  Prepares and ensures BOL accuracy for domestic and international shipments and all other associated documents, including NAFTA certifications.
  7. <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Monitors and tracks the quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of inbound and outbound shipments.


  1. <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Minimum 3 years of shipping experience with 2 years of supervisory experience or demonstrated supervisory and management skills, required.
  2. <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Proficiency in MRP/ERP based systems and experienced Microsoft Office suite user
  3. <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Knowledge of and experience with all shipping functions, foreign and domestic, including air <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">bills, international commercial invoices and letters of instruction, required
  4. <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Knowledge of and experience with packaging materials/pallets used to safely transport product, required.
  5. <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Reliability and willingness to work 40+ hours a week to meet deadlines.
  6. <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">nagement skills, required.<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">environment.
  7. <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Interpersonal skills to manage work groups and build strong internal relationships with other departments
