Job Purpose
Working as a critical player within the Engineering team, provides maintenance and fabrication tooling necessary to support the achievement of set production targets and customer expectations by following standard operating procedures with continual focus to your personal safety and the safety of your co-workers, and the quality of product produced being the guiding principles of your behaviors and actions. The Tool and Die Technician will maintain and fabricate tooling necessary for production and production support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Understand and safely follow all department standard operating procedures, as either in training or certified as a Tool and Die Technician.
Openly and respectfully question trainers, leads, and supervisors to gain understanding when there is question or concern to operating safely and/or impact to product quality.
Diagnosing and repairing damaged or malfunctioning tooling both on the production line and in the shop. As needed, perform the change overs of tooling on the machines.
Fabricating/machining new or replacement parts.
Read and understand part/assembly drawings and use the appropriate tools and equipment to produce the part to specifications.
Performs regularly scheduled and preventative maintenance on tooling and dies.
Clean and rebuild tooling between production runs, including fixtures, molds, rotary dies, and punch dies.

Maintain a safe work area by following set cleaning and housekeeping procedures.
Be compliant in all safety, environment and health processes and procedures. To include but not limited to wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), maintaining, and safely storing PPE, and submitting to periodic personal testing and monitoring.
Qualifications
1. Proficient in tool and die repair, and industrial machinery and equipment typically obtained through a minimum of 2 years of experience working within a fast-paced heavy equipment, system-controlled machine, and process driven work environment.
2. Displayed ability to do basic shop mathematics – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculating percentages.
3. Displayed ability to read and write for understanding and interpret instructions and standard operating procedures. Working knowledge of assembly methods and common properties of materials.
4. Proficient in the safe operation of equipment, including vertical mills, lathes, vertical and horizontal band saws, drill press, surface grinder, MIG and TIG welders, plasma cutter, grinders, and hand drills.
5. Can verify conformance and specifications through the appropriate use of precision measuring equipment, such as dial and digital calipers, micrometers, tape measures, squares, and levels.
6. Ability to be qualified for safe and compliant use and maintenance of assigned and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). To include a fit-tested respirator, steel-toed shoes, safety eye wear and hearing protection.
7. Prior manufacturing experience. Working within a fast-paced heavy equipment, system-controlled machine and process driven work environment is preferred.
