Job Purpose

SUMMARY:

Maintenance Technician is responsible for installation, set-up, and repair of all machine and facilities equipment including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, PLC’s, and general mechanical equipment. Performs preventative/predictive maintenance as scheduled to ensure optimal equipment efficiency (OEE).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include, but not limited to, the following:

Must follow all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) guidelines.
Must be capable of learning and practically applying LEAN methodologies. LEAN thinking and waste elimination efforts are expected of ALL EnerSys employees.
Must be able to be on-time and have good attendance. Maintenance is a critical position for Sumter Metal Products.
Must be able to read and understand electrical schematics and diagrams.
Must be able to work with voltages ranging from 24 volts to 480 volts.
Must be able to trouble-shoot, repair, and maintain production equipment in a timely manner.
Must be able to repair and install facilities equipment such as HVAC systems, lighting, plumbing, and electrical circuits.
Must be able to repair mechanical equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, conveyor systems, chain drive systems, and hydraulic lift tables.
Must be flexible, willing and able to work overtime as needed to support production.
Must be able to use email, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
Must be able to complete work orders using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Maintenance is a support function, and as such, must ensure production needs are met and maintained in a timely manner.

Qualifications

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree in Mechatronics or related field. 3 or more years of related experience. Trumpf laser experience is a plus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1 - 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups or customers or employee’s organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, multiply, subtract, and divide. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABLITY: Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problem involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds/11.5 kilos on occasions.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilos on a daily continuous basis. Anything heavier will be done with the assistance of a mechanical device or with the assistance of another employee.
