Job Purpose

The Systems Administrator II position is responsible for the maintenance, support and ongoing architecture of the corporate Information Technology infrastructure. These responsibilities include support for Windows physical and virtual servers, storage and compute infrastructure, system backup technology, user workstations, mobile devices, and various software solutions. The ability to work effectively in a team atmosphere and be able to interface directly with the user community is critical.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain network users, security, and privileges in a Microsoft Active Directory / Azure Active Directory environment.
  • Create and administer Office 365 users, security, and privileges.
  • Implement, administer, and support system backups to ensure availability and recoverability of system resources.
  • Support mature, multi-site VMware environment.
  • Implement and support cloud architectures such as Azure VMs, AWS EC2, and related resources.
  • Maintain and upgrade IT infrastructure hardware and software as needed.
  • Maintain and monitor IT security applications and appliances to include endpoint antivirus, web security, spam filters, and endpoint management solutions.
  • Support and maintain email systems; create and maintain Exchange mailboxes, mail services and corporate distribution lists.
  • Support mobile devices and associated management technology.
  • Evaluate new technologies to improve IT services, reliability and performance
  • Support planning and coordinate activities with other EnerSys IT personnel (local and remote) and third parties.
  • Monitor infrastructure hardware and software for errors and performance issues.
  • Monitor and act on incoming infrastructure Service Desk tickets.
  • Provide second level support to IT Service Desk personnel.
  • Recommend and support development of system standards and procedures.
  • Support compliance, audit and documentation requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
Requires 2 year degree in Computer Science or 1 to 2 years relevant experience

Language Skills
Effective communication skills:  Oral, written and listening

Mathematical Skills
Basic math skills

Reasoning Ability
Problem management / resolution skills; organizational / project management skills; best practices for security administration; understanding of ITIL principles.

Computer Skills 
Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Windows Server and VMWare and cloud VM technologies; data communications and Internet; firewall / spam filtering / web security technologies; data storage / archiving / backup technologies. Understanding / experience with other technologies such as VDI; mobile device management; and desktop management a plus; Linux experience a plus.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Microsoft, Azure, and/or AWS certification are desirable.
