This position will be focusing primarily on our Energy Systems line of business, which include telecommunications, IT, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), utilities and switchgear, security, emergency lighting and general electronics. Some of the reserve power brands include PowerSafe,DataSafe, and Genesis. Our extensive product range serves a variety of reserve power applications and consistently delivers the most effective, powerful and reliable batteries available.

Role Overview

The Electrician A Grade, operating out of our Thomastown site, will specialize in batteries, DC systems, air-conditioning, and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), providing expertise and support in these areas. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment across various settings, including telecommunications shelters, commercial, and industrial.

Main Responsibilities

•    Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, components, and equipment, while adhering to local electrical codes and safety standards.
•    Conduct inspections, diagnose electrical issues, and perform necessary repairs or replacements for ensuring optimal functionality.
•    Read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and electrical plans, to determine installation and repair requirements.
•    Install and connect wiring, outlets, switches, circuit breakers, and other electrical components, following specific guidelines and specifications.
•    Test batteries, DC systems, air-conditioning units, and PLCs using appropriate tools and instruments to ensure accurate performance and compliance with specifications.
•    Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and team members to plan and execute installations and repairs.
•    Ensure compliance with electrical regulations, safety standards, and best practices prioritizing the well-being of all stakeholders.
•    Provide technical advice and recommendations to clients on battery setups, energy-efficient solutions, air-conditioning installations, and the implementation of PLCs for process automation.
•    Maintain accurate records of work performed, including job details, materials used, and time spent on projects.
•    Stay updated with industry advancements, codes, and regulations and continuously enhance your knowledge and expertise in these areas

Educational/Vocational Requirements

Required

  • Valid Electrical License or Trade Certificate
  • Valid driver's license
  •  2-3 years' proven experience as an Electrician
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical diagrams, blueprints, and electrical plans.
  • Good communication, literacy, and numeracy skills
  • Solid knowledge of electrical systems, components, and safety practices.
  • Familiarity with electrical regulations and compliance standards in Australia.
  • Basic skills in: Problem solving, Organisation, Communication & interpersonal skills, and Computer literacy – Microsoft Office / Windows environment
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Ability to work as part of a team, with or without supervision

Preferred

  • Electrical Experience in batteries, DC Systems, air-conditioning units, and PLCs
