This position will be focusing primarily on our Motive Power applications, which include industrial lift trucks and pallet jacks, rail equipment, mining equipment, and airline ground support equipment. Some of the motive power brands include Hawker, Ironclad, General Battery, and Fiamm. Wherever there is a need for motive power, EnerSys offers the perfect energy solution.

 

Job Purpose

This position manages the EnerSys Operating System (EOS) transformation efforts. This position implements and supports actions that bring about improvements to operations and processes which may include, but are not limited to, safety, quality, delivery, cycle time, and inventory levels

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Leads and designs local improvement projects and effectively coordinate projects with the Regional EOS Director.
  2. Ability to lead and direct an improvement team.  Must be a results-oriented “change agent" who is an effective business systems thinker.
  3. Effectively communicate with all levels to maintain relationships and cooperation in pursuing the Business goals.  Must be able to influence, negotiate, and resolve conflicts to reach consensus around common goals.
  4. Understand statistical analysis tools/methodology, project management, SAP, quality and basic financial principles and apply them to analyze the planned activities.
  5. Employs lean methodologies and tools in order to accomplish business objectives.
  6. Regular in person attendance with on time arrival as scheduled.   Required to work irregular hours on short notice. Punctuality and dependability are a job requirement.
  7. Develop most efficient ways to use people, machines, materials, information, and energy to make a product or service.
  8.  
  9. Possess above average written and verbal communication skills; be competent with computer skills in use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP or similar ERP software systems, with ability to create spreadsheets for analysis and tracking of various information.
  10. Negotiation skills a must for conflict resolution. 
  11. Understanding of manufacturing, principles/practices, effective oral/ written communication, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  12. Project leadership includes identifying opportunities, defining and financially justifying projects, launching project teams, using good project management to perform team activities, leading teams to execute projects with the problem solving methodology, tracking project status and results, removing and elevating project barriers, and developing team members. 

Qualifications

A four year degree in a related field or at least 5 years’ experience in a process improvement function at a manufacturing facility or distribution center.

Preferred Qualifications: A MBA and 10 years’ experience in a process improvement function.

Ability to:

  1. Identify integration issues with other projects/processes and coordinate the improvements with the appropriate project/process owners to accomplish the project goals.
  2.  Train and coach local managers and plant teams to the system.
    - Ensure 2-way open communication throughout the organization based on results. Scope projects in support of the system and productivity.
  3. Lead kaizen events to deliver target improvement 
  4. Manage the development and maintenance of methods and systems for measuring the degree to which the project goals, objectives and metrics are being met. 
    - Provide regional EOS director and Plant managers with the results and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  5. Ensure projects are integrated with other business activities, improvement projects, and business strategy.
  6. Keep the regional EOS director and Plant manager informed of program status and ensure coordination of activities between other Plants.  Also, this includes capturing project lessons learned that can be re-used for other projects.
