Compensation Range: 91,600 - 114,500 

Compensation may vary based on applicant's work experience, education level, skill set, and/or location.  

Job Purpose

The Engineering manager establishes operational objectives and assignments and delegates assignments to subordinate managers. Operational objectives are reviewed by senior management to determine operational success. Manage and coordinate the work of a highly skilled engineering staff. Manages day-to-day engineering functions. The engineering manager is involved in developing, modifying and executing company policies that affect local operations and are in alignment with world-wide TPPL operations and corporate directions. Erroneous decisions will result in critical delays in scheduled operations and may jeopardize overall business activities. The engineering manager interacts with senior management on matters concerning several functional areas and requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance of, others in sensitive situations. The engineering manager manages activities of multiple departments through subordinate managers who exercise full supervision in terms of costs, methods and employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the group resources to ensure that Safety remains a primary focus.
  • Manage group resources to successfully execute the business profit plan by continually reviewing business activities and procedures, identifying non-value added expenditures of company resources and developing plans for their elimination.
  • Coordinate engineering best practices, such as lean manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction programs to continually lower product costs.
  • Coordinate the site's capital budget planning activities.
  • Develop and manage the project portfolio for the site.
  • Provides direction on development, installation and improvement activities for new equipment, processes and facilities.
  • Oversees key projects, processes, performance reports and data analysis.
  • Selects correct concepts and technologies for new product or improvements to existing products.
  • Provides oversight to the preventative maintenance, obsolete equipment, ISO 14000 and environmental compliance programs.
  • Prepares accurate cost analyses for projects and forecasts project completion dates.
  • Prepares reports for management.
  • Provides facility design function for the site.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise Process Engineering Manager
  • Supervise Manufacturing Engineering Manager

 

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: BS in Engineering (ME/EE/CE/IE) with 10+ years manufacturing and project management experience. Advanced degree preferred.

 Language Skills: English with College level written and verbal skills

Mathematical Skills: Skills commensurate with 4 year engineering degree

Reasoning Ability: Advanced root cause and abstract problem solving abilities, visualization

Computer Skills: Competency in Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Simulation and project planning software.
