Job Purpose

Provide technical health/safety support to all company personnel. Monitor safety and health regulations and provide technical support to location personnel to ensure compliance with federal and state health/safety regulations/standards. Implement and monitor the company's safety programs. Works with and maintains "confidentially" in the handling of employee and business information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all Contractors and Sub-Contractors are aware and trained on the requirements of pertinent policies, procedures, and emergency procedures, and that all are properly enforced.
  • Assist in gathering and documenting pertinent environmental data.
  • Responsible for managing industrial hygiene air monitoring across all shifts and positions.
  • Supervision of hearing conservation program and audiometric testing on all required employees.
  • Supervision of sound level monitoring program.
  • Supervision and direction of all EHS Technicians on each shift.  
  • Evaluates blood lead results and coordinates hygiene counseling in efforts to meet plant metrics.
  • Support as health and safety technical expert in incident investigations and tracking reports in the incident database.
  • Complete required compliance obligations through online database.
  • Evaluates all new and existing machine processes for adherence to local and federal regulation as it relates to health and safety.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining technical programs for skill-based employees (i.e. fall protection, Control of Hazardous Energy, Confined Space, and Hot Work).
  • Control uniform programs for all employees.
  • Control respirator washing programs for all employees.
  • Supervise janitorial contractors and cleaning schedules.
  • Implementation and documentation of process risk assessments.
  • Supports the implementation and monitoring of all other EHS programs as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervision of EHS Technicians on all shifts. (3 direct reports)

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in safety management or similar degree.
  • Language Skills:  Fluent verbal and written skills in English. Effective interpersonal communication skills a must.
  • Mathematical Skills:  High level of accuracy in basic math and use of 10 key calculator.
  • Reasoning Ability:  Ability to associate cause and affect relationships and determine patterns of activity in anticipation of change to the operation or personnel.
  • Computer Skills:  Must have strong intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CAOHC Certification, OSHA 30-hour, ISO 14001 Internal Auditor
  • Other Skills and Abilities:  Must be able to multi-task with attention to detail. Self-starter and takes initiative.
