This position will be focusing primarily on our Motive Power applications, which include industrial lift trucks and pallet jacks, rail equipment, mining equipment, and airline ground support equipment. Some of the motive power brands include Hawker, Ironclad, General Battery, and Fiamm. Wherever there is a need for motive power, EnerSys offers the perfect energy solution.


Job Purpose

Responsible for design, development, evaluation, analysis, selecting and ordering equipment that is most appropriate and cost effective for the manufacture of company products and systems.  Oversees and manages the installation, modification, upgrade and maintenance of manufacturing equipment/processes/systems. Keeps current on equipment manufacturers’ technical notices, upgrades and safety issues.  Studies equipment performance and reliability. Provides expert technical support to operations and other disciplines within engineering organization. Identifies, develops, recommends, and manages processes needed to produce specific products and components. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Mechanical Engineer

  • Manage approved engineering projects
  • Create complex, detailed product and equipment drawings packages
  • Check drawing package accuracy and release to document control
  • Develop, coordinate and manage equipment build and installation
  • Provide advanced technical support to maintenance and operations
  • Manage TPPL – common equipment usage and integration with Newport and Arras
  • Advanced CadKey, AutoCad and Solid Works. Strong planning, prioritizing, and organizational skills

Education and/or Experience:  BS degree or equivalent experience in engineering.  7 - 10+ years engineering experience working in a manufacturing environment. 5+ years of direct project management experience. Supervisory experience desired for future growth potential.

Language Skills:  College level written and verbal English skills

Mathematical Skills:  College level Geometry, Algebra, and Trigonometry

Reasoning Ability:  Advanced Root cause and abstract problem solving, visualization and quality tools

Computer Skills:  Microsoft Office and project management software

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  Lean, Six Sigma or project management certificates are desirable


Other Skills and Abilities:  Strong planning, analytical, assertive, and personal interaction skills

Other Qualifications: 

Extensive understanding of manufacturing procedures and operations, product design, environmental issues / regulations, control, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
