Job Purpose

The principal purpose of the Quality Manager’s position is to plan, direct, develop and implement appropriate quality systems for all areas of the business to assure the quality and consistency of all products produced by EnerSys Energy Products.  Also, manage the ongoing support required to assure implementation and continuous improvement of these systems to the ISO 9001-2015 standard.  This position also requires the incumbent to facilitate improvement for all departments within EnerSys.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Plans for continuous improvement through all factory information systems.  Coordinates department personnel to implement continuous improvement actions to assure resolution of complex quality problems.  Communicates with customers and suppliers on continuous improvement actions.
  • Manages and trains quality department personnel regarding aspects of quality, technical, and interpersonal skills applicable to their specific job responsibilities.  Trains other departments regarding quality, technical, and corrective action.
  • Completes top level quality trends analysis, management review, and reporting to company, customers, suppliers, and third party auditors progress made and for identification of opportunities for improvement in quality and cost.
  • Planning and coordination of engineering and technical resources for the facilitation of complex problem solving in a quick response time.
  • Responds to unplanned quality problems from suppliers, EnerSys manufacturing processes and from our customers.
  • Acts as ISO 9000 Quality Management Representative to ISO 9000 registrar review all activities with customers.  Be knowledgeable of all issues that are raised with customers.
  • Manage systems to document all customer complaints.  Manager for closed loop corrective action of all customer complaints.  Provide feedback to customers on status of issues and actions for corrective action.
  • Review customer complaint and RFA information to provide for customer satisfaction.  Also review data to provide feedback to Senior Leadership Team for areas of improvements. 
  • Review MRP system and quality databases to organize reporting and communication to facilitate the reduction of scrap and rework.  This include the management of the creation of database creation by quality personnel. Coordinate with other departments to reduce scrap with information from quality cost database.
  • Coordinate activities with governmental agencies to provide compliance to governmental requirements such as FAA, DCMA, DOD, etc.
  • Review contracts to assure that EnerSys quality systems are updated and complaint to all contractual requirements.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
BS in Engineering/Science with 7 years of experience in Quality/Reliability engineering with 5 years in a Lead Acid Battery environment.  Management background and knowledge of statistical process control software and its application in problem solving. Master degree in business or industrial management and ASQ Certification in CQE and CQM preferred. 
Language Skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills and solid interpersonal skills

Mathematical Skills
Strong analytical, statistical, mathematical, and quality control methods

Reasoning Ability
Ability to perform analysis of difficult complexity.  Ability to use standard and special PC software packages to analyze and interpret data.  Strong problem solving skills. 

Computer Skills 
Basic knowledge of computers, database, spreadsheet programs, and data entry for analytical results.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Certified ISO 9000 Lead Auditor preferred.  CQE and CQM preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to adapt quickly to changes in priorities and deadlines, and to move between assignments effectively; ability to productively guide technicians and hourly employees through the change processes.

Other Qualifications

TRAVEL REQUIRED:
Infrequent travel required to Customers, Vendors, EnerSys manufacturing plants, Corporate office, training courses and industrial shows.
